BOTM #20

This month I read a few more books than I have in the past couple of months.
Here's the Books that I read during the month of May:

  • Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (5/5)
  • Banging the Boy Nextdoor by Katy Baker (1/5)
  • Her Mad Hatter by Marie Hall (4/5)
  • Steamy Fairytales by MaryLynn Bast (2/5)
  • Ethan by P.T. Michelle (3.5/5)
  • Beautiful Mess by Lucy V. Morgan (4.5/5)
  • Teasing Trent by M.Malone (3/5)
  • Fated by Sarah Alderson (3.5/5)
  • Crossing the Line by KatieMcGarry (4.5/5)

And the book of the month is...

This may be the longest time I have taken on a book in a long time but it wasn't because it was bad as I really enjoyed it. I found this a really good ending to this series. For my full review click here.

Blurb from Goodreads:

Ethan Harris never thought monsters and darkness would consume his daily thoughts, but every night the same visions repeat in his dreams. He’s careful to project a semblance of normalcy, keeping the suffocating darkness locked inside. As much as he wishes he could focus on girls, sports, and cars like other seventeen-year-olds; nothing distracts him from his own demons or shines through.

Until Nara Collins crosses his path. The blonde fascinates and intrigues him, giving him a measure of peace he’s never felt before.

When Ethan discovers there’s more to Nara than she allows others to see, that she might have a unique secret of her own, suddenly his world comes into focus.

Note: Ethan is a novella PREQUEL to Brightest Kind of Darkness. This story will give some of Ethan’s background and lead up until the day he tells Nara there’s a bomb in the school.

I have had the first one to this series for awhile now so when I saw this on netgalley I had to request it and I'm glad I did as it has made me want to read the first one a lot sooner than what I was thinking.

I'm in two minds about this cover as I love the trees in the background making it look picturesque and in keeping with the other books but I don't like the colours as it makes Ethan look weird.

When I first started the book I wasn't sure I was going to like it but the further I went into the story the more I started to like it. With me not reading the first book I'm not sure about who Ethan or Nara are but it seems paranormal which I can't wait to delve into when reading he rest of the series. Also there isn't really any romance but I have a feeling that could change in the upcoming books. There is a lot of things that have been mentioned but haven't been talked about in much detail so again I hope that changes in the next book. I found this was a really sad book especially one scene that I just couldn't read as it was too sad so I skipped that particular part. The ending really grabbed me and has made me eager to see what happens next.

I wasn't too sure about Ethan to start with but by the end there was something about him than warmed me to him. There wasn't much details about the other characters but I'm sure that will change by the end of the next book.

Overall a good start to what I'm hoping will be a brilliant series. I can't wait to find out more about what is happening with Ethan and Nara.
