Waiting on Wednesday - A World Without You by Beth Revis

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book that I can't wait for...

A World Without You by Beth Revis
Expected Publication: 19th July

Synopsis:Seventeen-year-old Bo has always had delusions that he can travel through time. When he was ten, Bo claimed to have witnessed the Titanic hit an iceberg, and at fifteen, he found himself on a Civil War battlefield, horrified by the bodies surrounding him. So when his concerned parents send him to a school for troubled youth, Bo assumes he knows the truth: that he’s actually attending Berkshire Academy, a school for kids who, like Bo, have "superpowers."
At Berkshire, Bo falls in love with Sofia, a quiet girl with a tragic past and the superpower of invisibility. Sofia helps Bo open up in a way he never has before. In turn, Bo provides comfort to Sofia, who lost her mother and two sisters at a very young age.
But even the strength of their love isn’t enough to help Sofia escape her deep depression. After she commits suicide, Bo is convinced that she's not actually dead. He believes that she's stuck somewhere in time — that he somehow left her in the past, and now it's his job to save her.

I've only read one book by Beth Revis don't ask why I haven't read anymore because I have no idea why I haven't finished Across the Universe series as I loved the first one. This sounds like it could be an epic read and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

Synopsis:
A new adult novel from Entangled's Embrace imprint...
Hell is looking for a way to break loose…
Jax lost the genetic lottery. Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, he's plagued by a curse that demands violence in exchange for his happiness. He left everything behind, including the girl he loved, but thriving on the pain of others is lonely… And it's killing him.
After a series of heartbreaking losses, Samantha put rubber to pavement and headed for college as fast as her clunker could carry her. But she can't outrun her problems. When an attack at school drives her back home, she's thrown into the path of a past—and a guy—she's been trying to forget.
Sam strains Jax's control over his darkness, but running isn't an option this time. Someone—or, something—followed her home from school: a ruthless monster with a twisted plan centuries in the making. Forced together to survive, and fighting an attraction that could destroy them both, Jax and Sam must stop a killer bent on revenge.

I received a review copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Even though this cover is simple I still love the cover as it looks sinister which is very much in keeping with the story. I love the use of colours as it works well to give it that dark feel about it. What I love is the way the title is covering half of the models face as again that ties in well with the story.

I was looking forward to reading this book as I have read and enjoyed a Jus Accardo book plus that blurb I was expecting amazing things however I felt let down by it. For the most part I just couldn't get into it with nothing really grabbing my attention to the point where I even considered stopping reading it but then some things would happen that I would think something was going to grab me which was like that throughout. I did like how different this book is to any other book that I have read before which had loads of potential I just wish I could've loved it as much as loads of other reviewers have done. There was a bit of action that was entertaining but I just wished there was more of it. The romance side of the story was not really believable and some of it I didn't understand what on earth was happening between the main characters. I kind of expected the ending that we got so to be it was a little bit predictable but it did start to pick up which may have been too little too late.

I couldn't really warm up to any of the characters which maybe that's why I couldn't get into the actual story. Jax was pretty much the only character that had glimmers of being a good character but then he would say or do something that annoyed me to put me off him all over again. I do understand why Jax was the way he was but that didn't mean I could love him. I didn't really understand Sam there was times when I thought she was something that she wasn't.

Overall, I wish I could have loved this book but I just couldn't get into it and I know I won't be rushing to read the next book in the series.

LOVE WILL CONQUER ALL

I bought this a little while ago now and I've only just gotten around to reading it which I'm glad I did as sometimes I forget to finish the last book but not this time.

I've said this before about these covers and I will say it again I'm not a fan of these covers there's just something about them that could've put me off reading the book if I hadn't read her Vampire Academy series. I do like that it ties in with the rest of the series which I'm surprised that it did as quite often series change before it comes to the end which Richelle Mead is guilty of.

When I first started reading this book I couldn't quite remember what happened in the previous book as it had been a while since I had read it but there was little reminders of what happened so in the end it wasn't too bad and I was able to understand what was happening which is the main thing. There was a lot of twists and turns that I was not expecting which was good as it kept me guessing throughout and shocked me at times as well. I've always loved the romance story involved in both Bloodlines and Vampire Academy series so it was nice to see a conclusion with Sydney and Adrian as well as more from Rose and Dimitri. I love the chemistry between Sydney and Adrian plus they make sure a cute couple but they do have their disagreements which I also liked as it made it feel more real. There was a bit of action throughout but I felt I was waiting for something more to happen in a more action packed manner. I kind of liked the ending as everything came to a great ending but I don't think everything was cleared up as much as what I wanted so I do hope that there will be another spin off to get the closure that I need.

There's not much more that I can say about the characters that I haven't talked about in my previous reviews from this series. I still love all the characters and I feel like Sydney has grown the most closely followed by Adrian. It was nice to see more from Rose and Dimitri in this book than any of the other books. There was a couple of new characters that where a great addition especially one of those that I can't really say anything about as I don't want to give anything away but put it this way it changes everything for everyone.

Overall, a great ending but I do feel as though it could've been a stronger ending.

Waiting on Wednesday - The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book that I can't wait for...

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia
Expected Publication: 4th October 2016

Synopsis:I’ve become an expert at avoiding things that could hurt me—which means I will figure out how to stay away from Marco Leone.
Seventeen-year-old Frankie Devereux would do anything to forget the past. Haunted by the memory of her boyfriend’s death, she lives her life by one dangerous rule: Nothing matters. At least, that’s what Frankie tells herself after a reckless mistake forces her to leave her privileged life in the Heights to move in with her dad—an undercover cop. She transfers to a public high school in the Downs, where fistfights don’t faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football.
Marco Leone is the fastest street racer in the Downs. Tough, sexy, and hypnotic, he makes it impossible for Frankie to ignore him—and how he makes her feel. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have devastating consequences for them both. When Frankie discovers his secret, she has to make a choice. Will she let the pain of the past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?
I wasn't a huge fan of her Beautiful Creatures book but I'm still looking forward to reading this book as it sounds really good.

Book Review: Accordance (Significance, #2) by Shelly Crane

(Click image to take you to Goodreads)
Format: Kindle
Publishers: Kiss Me Publications
Published: 15th September 2011
Pages: 314
Genre: YA, Paranormal Romance,
Main Characters: Maggie, Caleb
Date Read: 17th February - 24th February 2016

Rating Given:
 photo fourfive.jpg

Synopsis:In the sequel, Maggie learns much more about all the strange things that happened to her, and has to face new ones. She rebels against it, but ultimately, must face it for her new families sake and maybe even her life. Bish went from being her biggest supporter to her biggest pain in the butt and Kyle's intentions to attract her interest may not be so innocent. Caleb and Maggie face many new obstacles together and fight to work through them but will one that should be a good thing be too much for Maggie to handle?

I loved the first book Significance so I just had to get book two and I'm glad I did as I really enjoyed it although maybe not as much as the first one...

I like the cover and that it ties in with book one which I always love when book covers in series are similar as then you know they are a part of the actual series.

The beginning starts off pretty much where Significance left off which is always a good thing as then I don't feel like there is something missing. I loved seeing the relationship between Caleb and Maggie grow which I didn't think was possible they could get any closer but they did and they was so cute together. It wasn't until further into the book that it was mentioned that they had only been together for two weeks which actually shocked me as the way they acted together you would've thought they had been together for year, and even though in most books this would annoy me but with this series it's different as I understand why they feel the way that they do. There wasn't much happening throughout the majority of the book but things did happen randomly but quickly over. I loved that some things that had happened I wasn't expecting which kept me guessing throughout. I liked the ending as it was a bit of a cliff hanger although not a one that made me think I must read the next book right now.

I loved getting to know the characters even more although some did annoy me. Maggie really grew in this book it was nice to see how much she changed for the better. Caleb I still love he is such a sweet character but showed more of his anger in this book which I actually liked seeing as it didn't make him too good to be true. Kyle was annoying me throughout most of the book but towards the end I started to like him. Bish really annoyed me and even though I could kind of see why he was acting the way he did I still didn't like the way he treated Maggie or even Caleb.

Overall, I really enjoyed the second book but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as good as book one.

Book of the Month - February 2016

I had a pretty descent month of reading in February which was surprising considering it was a short month.

Here's what I read in February:

  • Flesh (Flesh, #1) by Kylie Scott - 2.5/5
  • Irrisistibly Yours (Oxford, #1) by Lauren Layne - 4.5/5
  • Dirty (Dive Bar, #1) by Kylie Scott - 5/5
  • Accordance (Significance, #2) by Shelly Crane - 4.5/5
  • The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines, #6) by Richelle Mead - 4/5
  • Ruined (The Eternal Balance, #1) by Jus Accardo - 3/5

And the book of the month goes to...

Dirty (Dive Bar, #1) by Kylie Scott
It was an easy choice this month as this one was my only five star book as none of them held my interest as much as this one did.

What is you book of the month?

Waiting on Wednesday - One Paris Summer by Denise Grover Swank

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book that I can't wait for...

One Paris Summer by Denise Grover Swank
Expected Publication: 7th June 2016

Synopsis:Most teens dream of visiting the City of Lights, but it feels more like a nightmare for Sophie Brooks. She and her brother are sent to Paris to spend the summer with their father, who left home a year ago without any explanation. As if his sudden abandonment weren't betrayal enough, he's about to remarry, and they’re expected to play nice with his soon-to-be wife and stepdaughter. The stepdaughter, Camille, agrees to show them around the city, but she makes it clear that she will do everything in her power to make Sophie miserable.
Sophie could deal with all the pain and humiliation if only she could practice piano. Her dream is to become a pianist, and she was supposed to spend the summer preparing for a scholarship competition. Even though her father moved to Paris to pursue his own dream, he clearly doesn't support hers. His promise to provide her with a piano goes unfulfilled.
Still, no one is immune to Paris’s charm. After a few encounters with a gorgeous French boy, Sophie finds herself warming to the city, particularly when she discovers that he can help her practice piano. There’s just one hitch—he’s a friend of Camille’s, and Camille hates Sophie. While the summer Sophie dreaded promises to become best summer of her life, one person could ruin it all.

Of the books that I've read by Denise I have enjoyed every one of them so I'm hoping that this one will be another one that I enjoy.
