Synopsis:Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…
I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.
And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.
But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.
Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

I received a review copy from bookbridgr in exchange for an honest review.

I do love this cover as it matches the old covers which I like seeing as it will slot nicely in between books one and two. I love that it's just Daemon in the cover as it is his book plus I love the colours used as well.

I was really excited about this book but I did feel like I didn't fall in love with this one like I had with Obsidian and I don't really know why as I got to know why Daemon treated Katy the way he did yet I still couldn't forgive him like I was able to in the first book. For me the beginning to a little too long to get into but by the end I end up loving it just as much as the other Lux books. I didn't feel the chemistry between Katy and Daemon which surprised me I think this might be because I know how they can be together so I just didn't feel this time around but I guess it was the beginning. I loved getting to know what Daemon got up to when Katy wasn't around plus I loved knowing what on earth he was thinking about, it was also nice to see some of my favourite scenes from Daemon's point of view. There was some great action that took place which is always nice to have in any book so that it doesn't drag. The ending was good and left me wanting more from Daemon so I may have to get the kindle version of Oblivion as there are more scenes from the other books from Daemon's point of view.

For some reason I didn't warm up to Katy and Daemon as they both seemed to annoy me more than they ever had done. Daemon came across as such a jerk for most of the book and even though I understood where he was coming from I feel as though he maybe took things too far as he was close to being nasty. In the other books Katy came across as such a strong person yet when reading this book I felt she was a bit of a push over. I loved meeting Dee again as she was just as endearing as she was in the first book.

Overall, it was a good read in the end but for the beginning I felt like I had my eyes open to how Daemon really was.
