Synopsis:Emily McCarthy is living in fear of a dark and dangerous past. A gifted mathematician, she is little more than a hollow, broken shell, trying desperately to make ends meet long enough to finish her degree.
Through an unlikely friendship with the aging, cantankerous owner of an old boxing gym, Em is thrown into the path of the most dangerous man that she has ever met.
Cormac “the Hurricane” O’Connell is cut, tattooed and dangerous. He is a lethal weapon with no safety and everyone is waiting for the mis-fire. He’s never been knocked out before, but when he meet Em he falls, HARD. Unlike any other girl he’s ever met, she doesn’t want anything from him, but just being around her makes him want to be a better person.
They are polar opposites who were never meant to find each other, but some things are just worth the fight.

I was asked if I wanted to take part in a blog tour for this book and I thought it sounded like something I might be interested in and I'm glad I said yes because I adored this book...

I do like this cover because it is what it is which I always love it when the cover is relevant to the actually story. I'm not sure on the grainy overall look of the image but that's the perfectionist in me coming out plus I did photography.

As soon as I started this book I was completely head over heels for it and I never wanted to put it down. For me if I could I would give it more than five stars as it's one of those books that as soon as I finished I wanted to start it all over again which only happens to me when I have read something amazing. I can't pick anything that stands out to make me love this book it was everything that made it a stand out book for me. There was a lot of things that went on in this book that never made it a dull moment even when things was calm I didn't get bored. What made this book different to other books that I have read was we knew the secrets (even if they never knew we did) plus there's always something that pulls the couple apart towards the end but something more harrowing happened which I was kind of always expecting but maybe not to that extent. The chemistry between Emily and O'Connell was on fire from the get go but I felt that their relationship grew into something special. There was some funny moments as well as moments that made me cry but also it gave me the chills. The ending I loved just as much as the rest of the book and what's even better is that there is another book to get even more closure.

I love both of the main characters and their friends they made this book what it was. Emily was one of my favourite ever female characters as even though she went through such a traumatic past she still had some strong and even funny moments. She really did grow throughout the book and I think that was mainly down to O'Connell. Speaking of O'Connell he is definitely my favourite ever male character as he was adorable and very protective. I loved him even more when I found out he had an Irish accent. I think that the two main characters brought out the best in each other as Emily gave O'Connell the focus that he needed. Kieran was another favourite character of mine as he was so funny and I would love for him to get his own book.

Overall, an amazing read and I can't wait to read book two and anything else that R.J. Prescott may release in the future.

Waiting on Wednesday - A Season for Fireflies by Rebecca Maizel

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book that I can't wait for...

A Season for Fireflies by Rebecca Maizel
Expected Publication: 28th June 2016

Synopsis:
A story of second chances from the author of Between Us and the Moon, which Kirkus Reviews called “what first love is meant to be.”
A year ago, Penny Berne was the star of her high school’s theater department, surrounded by a group of misfit friends and falling in love for the first time. Now her old friends won’t talk to her, her new best friend is the most popular girl in school, and her first love, Wes, ignores her. Penny is revered and hated. Then, in a flash, a near-fatal lightning strike leaves Penny with no memory of the past year—or how she went from drama nerd to queen bee.
As a record number of fireflies light up her town and her life, Penny realizes she may be able to make things right again—and that even if she can’t change the past, she can learn to see the magic where she never could before.
This captivating new novel about first love, second chances, and the power of memory is perfect for fans of Lauren Oliver’s Before I Fall and Katie Cotugno’s How to Love.

I've only read one book by Rebecca Maizel which I wasn't a fan of but after reading this synopsis I just know I will have to try this one and just hope that it is better than the last one I read by her.

Synopsis:The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.
Lydia Green doesn't know whether to burn down the church or sit and cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it's with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.

After all, what's wrong with getting dirty?

I received a review copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I do like this cover and I especially like that it's similar to the Stage Dive series but with a difference which is a good thing as this is a spin off from Stage Dive. I love that it looks like it could be from a scene from the actual book which I always love to see that in covers.

From the moment I started this book things was happening so needless to say there was always something entertaining happening. Even though there you would think that this was going to be a bit of a downer book you would be wrong as I found myself laughing out loud most of the time especially the shower scene at the beginning. I loved that everything was explained in the beginning with no secrets which I'm starting to get fed up of secrets between the two main characters so this was a refreshing change for me. There was moments when I though I was going to mark the book down but then something else would happen that brought it around again that for me I just couldn't mark it down. The relationship between the two main characters was very quick but in the end I forgot that they had only known each other for a short space of time as they just suited each other from the get go plus I felt that they started off more as friends with lust so it felt more believable in my eyes. The ending did feel a bit rushed but seeing as this is just the beginning in the Dive Bar series I could forgive it in the hope that there is more to come in the next book.

I loved all of the characters which was no surprised as I loved the other characters from the series that this was a spin off from and these was just as entertaining as the Stage Dive were. In the beginning I didn't think I was going to like Lydia but I was surprised that I thought she was such a strong character who wasn't a pushover. Vaughan was a great male character and loved him from the get go. There was some great secondary characters that I'm hoping will get their own book so I can find out more about them. I loved that we got a brief glimpse at one of the Stage Dive boys he made me want to go back and reread about the band.

Overall, another great book by the fabulous Kylie Scott and I'm very much looking forward to reading more from this series.

Synopsis:Fate - the second installment in the My Blood Approves series...
Alice Bonham thinks she's finally found a balance in her life between the supernatural and real life with her brother Milo. Jack - her sorta vampire boyfriend - keeps her at arm's length to keep her safe. As for his brother Peter... she's not sure where he's at, or what he wants with her. Worse still, she's not even sure what she wants with Peter.
When tragedy happens, Alice finds herself struggling with a terrible choice. Her decision has consequences that reach farther than she'd ever imagined...

I was really looking forward to book 2 in the My Blood Approves series as I loved the first one but for me book 2 was a bit of a disappointment.

I'm in two minds about these covers as I think they could be stunning photographs but I think it's a bit misleading as it gives a creepy feeling to me but this book is by no means a creepy book.

It took a very long while to get into this book and actually it wasn't until the last few chapters when I really started to get into it. Even though there was a few things going on I found myself thinking that it wasn't written in a way to capture my interest. A lot of things that happened really annoyed me to the point I felt like throwing my kindle across the room. I felt that the romance side of the story was pretty much non-existent even though there was something going on between the two main characters I didn't feel any chemistry. There was a couple of things that happened that I wasn't expecting and some of those really shocked me which I liked. As I said the end of the book really got interesting to the point of me wanting and even excited for the next book.

Some of the characters was better in this book than they where in the first book and then the others that didn't grow annoyed me. For me Alice was a lot more likeable in this book than she ever was in the first book. I really felt for Alice at times with the way that everyone was treating her and even though at times she was a bit whiney I could understand where she was coming from. I wasn't a huge fan of Jack's in this book as he just kept shutting Alice out without any explanation but there was times when he was the Jack that I liked from the previous book. Milo was in this book loads more than the first book but unfortunately he changed (in more was than one) as he really annoyed me quite often. The rest of the characters from the first book wasn't really in it that much and apart from Peter the others kind of annoyed me.

Overall, I was expecting a lot more from this book but for me it showed signs of suffering from second book syndrome. I will continue this series if I can actually get books 4 onwards as it looks like its been discontinued from Amazon UK but I hope I'm wrong.
