BOTM #23

Here's the Books that I read during the month of August:

  • Now or Never by A.J. Bennett - 3/5
  • Girls Love Travis Walker by Anne Pfeffer - 3.5/5
  • Doing it Risqué by Clarissa Wild - 2/5
  • The Sheik's Dangerous Lover by Elizabeth Lennox - 3/5
  • Shudder by Samantha Durante - 3/5
  • The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard - 3.5/5

And the book of the month is...

This month was a hard one as I didn't read any books that I loved so I went on the book that I liked and so The Forgotten Ones came out on top. I enjoyed the mythical side of the story as it was a little different to what I have read. It took me ages to finish as there was times when I just wasn't interested in it.
I know that next month will be better as the book that I'm reading at the moment is really good so far!

I was invited to join up for the blog tour for Now or Never and with me going through a New Adult kick I joined myself up but it wasn't as good as what I thought it would be.

I feel that the book cover is a bit misleading to what the story is about but apart from that I really like the way that it is simple especially the simplicity of the colours they really work well together.

When I first started this book I thought it was really good and very interesting even if the subject matter isn't something I would normally like to read about, however, I felt like that part of the story was a bit glossed over and nothing much after that happened that I would have expected and I definitely wouldn't expect her to jump around to different men it just didn't very realistic. Even though I thought I didn't like it I found myself drawn into the story and I was always wondering what was going to happen next. The romance side of the story was very unbelievable and at times I didn't want the two main characters together, there was other guys that seemed nicer than him who I thought she should be with. There was some sweet and tender moments but these where far and few between. With the ending I'm not a 100% sure with but it did seem like a realistic ending which was the only realistic thing that happened.

The main characters I wasn't overly keen on. Grayson at first I thought was such a strong person especially since she had gone through what she did but the further I got into the book the more annoying she got, I could understand her loosing her self confidence but her having one night stands it just wouldn't happen. Derrick at times was a sweet character but for the most time her didn't seem that nice and nothing he said was believable to me or Grayson. There was other characters that was annoying but there was a few nice ones and I just wished they had a bigger part in the story.

Overall it wasn't the best book but it wasn't the worse as it was addictive it just could have done with being more believable and then it would have been a really interesting book.

Cover #2:
Shattered Perfection:
The Diary of an Eating Disordered Mind
By: Piper Caleb

Book Blurb:
How did I end up admitting myself to an eating disorder treatment center?
I wish I could pin point one thing that sent me on this path, but it’s not that simple.

It wasn’t the fact that a boy cheated on me, or that I had a tough time growing up. It wasn’t the fact that I was verbally abused, or the fact that eating disorders run in my genes. It wasn’t me suddenly getting recognition as a ballerina when I got mono and dropped 25 pounds; it wasn’t a cry for help.

It was all of those things combined…and much more.

In my diary entries you will get to see how the mind of this eating disordered girl works. You will learn a lot more about me as a person—no holding back—and what brought me to rock bottom; and how I slowly fought my way back.

About Piper Caleb:

Piper Caleb is a 25 year old aspiring New Adult author from Lubbock, Texas. She started dancing when she was 3 years old and was classically trained as a ballerina.
