BOTM #19

This month has been another slow month for me which I am still reading a book now that I started the beginning of April!

Here's the Books that I did get to read during the month of April:

  • A Bit of Bite by Cynthia Eden 4/5
  • Fifty Shades of Alice in Wonderland by Melinda Duchamp 2/5
  • From Here to Eternity by Paige Cuccaro 2/5
  • Elemental by Brigid Kemmerer 4/5

And the book of the month goes to...

This was a bad month for me and I didn't read any 5 star books but I did read a couple 4 star books which I really enjoyed and I had to go with this book as I think this series could be 5 star books. I only never gave this 5 star because it was a bit too short so things didn't quite get sorted out but apart from that a really great book. My review isn't up yet but I have scheduled my review for this Wednesday.

Blurb from Goodreads:

Love never dies…but apparently Rachel has.

Waking up one day to her obituary in the news and no recollection of the past few weeks, Rachel calls her husband, Nate, in a panic, at the research facility where he works. Nate is the inventor of CYANAs, Cybernetic Anthropoid Automatons, vessels that look exactly like humans and can store a person’s memories…and maybe even his or her soul.

When Nate arrives home, Rachel doesn’t recognize the man who claims to be her husband. Can Nate convince Rachel to fall in love with him all over again? Especially once she realizes what he’s done…and what it means for their future?

This book sounded really interesting which it was but it fell a bit short for my liking.

I'm not a huge fan of the cover as for me it looks a bit too cheesy. I also don't think it has anything to do with the actual story.

When I first started this book I kept getting confused as it felt like information overload and also sometimes I would think it was saying one thing when it was meaning something else. Once I got further into the story I got less confused and started to enjoy reading it. I was actually going to give the book between 3 - 3.5 but then it ended and I was feeling like it ended a bit too abruptly and then I found that it was a stand alone as well I just felt let down by it. The romance side of the book I felt a bit rushed and because of that I didn't feel like it was believable. I loved the sci-fi side to the story as I haven't read many books like it I just wish that maybe this could have been a part of a series or a longer book.

I wasn't too sure about Rachel as she was a bit annoying at the beginning but I guess I understand where she was coming from. I was also surprised that I wasn't too fond of Nate either as usually I love the guy in the book. There was times that I liked both characters and I did like the way they would both do nearly anything to keep each other out of danger.

Overall a confusing start but it did pick up, however, the ending wasn't very good for a stand alone book.
