Cover Reveal: Patch Up by Stephanie Witter

I was asked if I wanted to take part in a New Adult cover reveal for the lovely Stephanie Witter and I of course jumped at the chance as I love me a good cover reveal.

So with out further ado here it is...

I love the simplicity of the cover and the use of colour. But what really draws my eye t this cover is the title as its big and bold. What I don't like about the cover is that it doesn't give anything away from the story, I prefer covers to tie in with the story.

Blurb:

Skye followed her long time boyfriend to Seattle for their first year of college, but he dumped her after only a week. The relationship brought only pain and destruction in Skye's life, and yet, she can't bring herself to open up and live her life. "What if I am already broken into pieces?" She hates to be touched, hiding under her oversized shirts and behind her wild frizzy hair. Even her bubbly roommate can't reach her. And yet ... "I'm the guy who knows how you can hurt so much that your insides feel like they're cut and bleeding." The tall, handsome, and tattooed TA in her psychology class changes everything when he literally collides with her and confronts her. For the first time in a long time, she wants to try and open up to this guy whose dark, intense eyes can't hide his own pain despite his dazzling smile getting to herHowever, just when she's starting to live again, her ex-boyfriend comes back, breaking her time and time again, making it all the more complicated. She wants to fight for herself and for this building thing with the TA, even when he pushes her away, but can two broken people patch each other up? "I never thought colliding with someone could change lives, but it is possible."

Excerpt:

(The first meeting)

[...]

Without paying attention to my surroundings, I turn to my left to walk toward the row closer to the door where a seat is available. I take a step and collide with a hard body, almost toppling me over on the ground for the second time in less than an hour. A strong hand grips me firmly by the forearm. My body stiffens and my breath catches in my throat. It’s as if I can’t move besides yanking my arm free without looking up to see who I collided with.

“Are you all right?” he asks me in a deep and calm voice.

My eyes wander from my red Converse to his dark boots. I have to calm down. I’m being ridiculous. Calm down. I take a deep breath and look up slowly. Long, muscled legs in beat up dark blue jeans, an old black leather jacket open over a dark grey V-neck sweater that showcases an impressive tall body with broad shoulders and finally, longish and messy black hair, perfect straight nose, full lips, high cheekbones and expressive soft dark eyes that lock with my bluish-greyish ones. He looks older with his goatee perfectly trimmed. A perfect hot mess many girls would say. I’m just intimidated by this stranger, though.

“I’m fine,” I reply, my voice even. I push away some of my untamed locks and curse my auburn frizzy hair that is always all over the place.

[...]

Sounds good right? I for one can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this book.

BOTM #22

Here's the Books that I read during the month of July:
  • Stay by Jennifer Silverwood - 2/5
  • Ethan's Mate by J.S. Scott - 3/5
  • Wicked Sexy by R.G. Alexander - 4/5
  • His Every Whim by Liliana Rhodes - 4/5
  • Hook's Pan by Marie Hall - 5/5
  • One Night Stand by Clara Bayard - 2/5
  • Stitch by Samantha Durante - 4/5
and the book of the month goes to ...

In the end it was very easy to decide which book was my book of the month , as Hook's Pan has been the best book that I have read in a long while. I loved everything about this book especially the fairytale twist. I highly recommend this book to everyone as it is such a brilliant read.

Blurb from Goodreads:

Trishelle Page has known pain in her life, but instead of it making her weak, she's stronger. Confident. That is until the day a fairy kidnaps her during her staring role in Peter Pan's play and tells her not only do fairy tales exist, but that she's the soulmate of the pirate they call Hook, making her question everything she ever thought she knew.

Captain James Hook is a man at the end of his rope. He's not the villainous bastard tales have made him out to be. So when the curvaceous blonde drops, literally, at his feet he aims to prove it to her. If only to get her into his bed.

What neither one knows is that fate and magic are conspiring and they can deny the attraction all they want but the end is already written, it's just a matter of getting there.

I had read the first one in the Kingdom series earlier this year which I enjoyed so when this book was on netgalley I jumped at the chance to review it and I am so glad I was accepted as it's one of my favourite books I have read this year!

I do love the guy on the cover he seems to be who I picture as Hook. I also love the colours as it makes it look dangerous which is very fitting for the book. I also love that it ties in with the rest of the series covers.

When I was thinking about starting this book I wasn't sure I was going to understand what was going on as I have only read the first book, but it doesn't matter as its more like a standalone. As soon as I started the book I fell in with it. Everything about this book had me enthralled and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. The romance side of the story was very believable which had me rooting for them. It was so sweet to watch. But it wasn't all lightness as you can imagine with Hook. There was Times that nearly had me in tears it was such a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I thought this was the last book, which for a time it was but thankfully there is more books in this series which I for one can't wait to get my hands on but first I need to get books 2, 3 and 4! Even though Marie Hall has ruined Peter Pan for me I don't mind one bit and it just goes to show there's always two sides to a story.

The characters I adored especially Hook, who would have thought the bad guy in the Peter Pan films was so sweet. Even though he was sweet he did have a bit of a temper but I loved him for it. Trishelle had a lot to deal with at the beginning of the story and it was nice to how she dealt with her issues throughout the book. I loved the camaraderie between the two characters it was so funny. Peter Pan also made an appearance and after reading about him I will never see him in the same light. Also characters from the previous series also have a little appearance.

Overall this was such a brilliant book and I can't wait to read more from Marie Hall. I highly recommend this series to anyone who it thinking about starting the series.

In a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels the Selection is the chance of a lifetime: to compete for gorgeous Prince Maxon's hear. But for America Singer it means turning her back on her secret love, and leaving home for a prize she doesn't want.

Then America meets Maxon and all her plans start to crumble. Can he life she's always dreamed of compare to a future she never imagined?

I had this book for such a long time before deciding to reading it but for the most part I wish I had put it off even longer as for a long time I couldn't get into it.

I love the cover and it is one of my favourites I just wish the story was as good as the cover.

It took me quite some time to get through this book which surprised me as I thought I was going to really enjoy it as it had all the ingredient's to be an epic read. Although I didn't love as I thought I would there was times when it picked up and those moments I really enjoyed. The romance side of the story I kind of liked in parts as sometimes it was so sweet then other times I just didn't believe it. The ending did leave me wanting more so I will be reading the next book I just hope it's better than this book.

Like the story the characters I had a love hate relationship. America seemed ok to start with as she had her own ideas and didn't care what everybody else thought, but then she started to act like everyone else so she didn't stand out. Aspen again I liked to start with but then I went off him. Maxon was the only one I liked pretty much throughout the book although there was moments when he annoyed me but I guess I knew where he was coming from.

Overall there was times when it was an ok book but there was times when I really didn't want to continue with the book.
