Synopsis:
Seven tasks. Twenty-four hours. And one chance.
The moment her best friend, Ben Meyers, drops his phone into her drink, model Livvie Winston knows The List has begun. Seven tasks, each more difficult than the last. If Ben completes them in twenty-four hours, Livvie must abandon her strict friends-only rule for one night of reckless, wicked sex with the most delicious man she knows...
The first tasks are easy. Order the cheapest thing on the menu. No cell phone for twenty-four hours. No ogling Livvie's model friends. Check, check, check.
But when Ben heads to the tattoo parlor, Livvie realizes that Ben isn't just playing for one night--he's playing for keeps. Livvie won't sacrifice this friendship for anything--even for a night of enjoying this incredibly sexy man in every naughty position imaginable. And she'll do whatever it takes to protect their friendship and her heart, even if it means beating Ben at his own game. Even if it means playing really dirty...

I requested this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This cover is one of the main reasons why I wanted to read the book as it just stood out for me. I love the use of colours but I especially love that I could imagine this as part of a scene from the book.

Apart from the cover the other main reason why I wanted to read this book was that it was a Cosmo Red-Hot Reads which I have read a few of them as they are quick reads with hot romance and this was no different. This outline for me was a little different to what I have read before which is always a good thing when everything you read is the same outline is the same but this one wasn't. I loved reading about every hoop that Ben had to jump through as when each was mentioned I kept thinking he is never going through that especially the last few. The one thing that he did have to do was get a tattoo which that particular scene was funny and hot too. With this being a short read I did feel as though there was a few things rushed especially the ending.

For the most part I did like all the characters in this book especially Ben the things he did to show Livvie he wasn't like every man she knew had me swooning. I felt so sorry for him at times especially when Livvie kept throwing everything he did back in his face when she was the one that made the list in the first place. For the beginning of this story I couldn't warm to Livvie as she was annoying the hell out of me but then once we find out more about her background I felt I got a better understanding of why she was the way she was.

Overall this was a great quick read I just wish it wasn't so rushed. After reading this one I will make sure I get a full length novel written by Tamara because if this short novel is anything to go by I am in for a treat.

Waiting on Wednesday - Hearts on Fire by Alison Packard

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book I can't wait for...

Hearts on Fire by Alison Packard
Expected Publication: 3rd February 2015

Synopsis:
Country music star Jessie Grant has it all. An amazing voice, a string of multi-platinum albums, and a sold-out concert tour. But just before her Hearts on Fire tour rolls into Las Vegas, her lead guitarist is badly injured and is unable to play. Desperate to find a replacement before the night of a televised live show, Jessie is forced to accept help from the last person on earth she wants to see again.
Drew Carmichael has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the best up-and-coming musicians in Nashville, without cashing in on his renowned father’s name. When Jessie’s manager calls and asks him to fill in for her band’s injured guitar player, he agrees to help Jessie out even though she cut him out of her life four months ago.
In Sin City, sparks fly between Jessie and Drew, and it isn’t long before they give in to their mutual attraction. But when the dark past Jessie has successfully hidden for ten years explodes in the media, their tenuous bond is put to the test, and both Jessie and Drew must learn to trust each other if they don’t want their newfound romantic relationship to go up in flames.

I have read a couple of Alison's books and I have adored them both and now she has a new one coming out I can't wait for it although we don't have much of a wait now!

Book Review: Avoiding Commitment (Avoiding, #1) by K.A. Linde

(Click image to take you to Goodreads)

Format: Kindle
Publishers: Indie
Published: 29th July 2012
Pages: 370
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance,
Main Characters: Lexi, Jack, Ramsey
Date Read: 11th January - 18th January 2015
Rating Given:
 photo onefive.jpg

Synopsis:
Jack and Lexi never had a typical relationship. After 2 years without speaking, she receives a phone call that changes everything. He unexpectedly asks her to convince the new girl, Bekah, that he's ready to commit. Jack is calling now after everything they had been through because there is another woman. She can't believe it.
Follow Lexi in this heart wrenching drama as she relives her past relationship, or lack thereof, with Jack, and not just in her own mind, but to his fiance-to-be. Throw in Bekah's hot brother who always seems to be in the right place at the right time, a past with more secrets to unravel than you can even imagine, and you get a recipe for disaster.
Find out what happens to Lexi as she travels to Atlanta to get the closure she so desperately desires from Jack, and how the bumps of life seem to keep getting in the way.

I had bought this book awhile back now when it was only 77p and now that I have finally gotten around to reading it I kind of wished I hadn't.

I do like this cover in the way that it is in black and white as I always love that especially when there's a hint of colour. I do like the title font as it's not just plain and simple it adds character.

When I was going to start this book I thought I would just check a few reviews to see if I was picking the right one and it seemed that that was the case. So mind set up I started to read it and I was liking it but then I started to think something wasn't quite right for me it was just something that I couldn't put my finger on. I did read into it a bit further and I just felt like I wanted to stop reading it but I hate to do that so I carried on and hoped for the best but for me it got worse. Jack and Lexi just kept making the same mistakes over and over again the first time I was ok this could just be a mistake but then it kept happening it made me want them not to have a happy ending. I didn't feel any chemistry between any of the characters well maybe one couple but then that changed towards the end. I liked that it kept going back and forth in time as I was able to get a better understanding on what happened between them and it wasn't until the last time it went into the past that I thought why on earth would she give him the time of day even if they believe that they love each other they are just too toxic to be together and sometimes love just isn't enough, how she ever was able to trust him was beyond me. The ending was kind of good as she stood up for herself but knowing that the next two books are still about her and Jack and maybe even Ramsey makes me think that there is going to be even more drama but I think that this is as far as I go with this particular series.

I didn't really like many of the characters in this book apart from some of the side characters like Chyna who was there for Lexi and was a true friend. I just couldn't warm up to Lexi as everytime I was starting to think maybe I could like her she would make some huge mistakes plus she was a hypocrite so it was hard to even feel remotely sorry for her. Jack has to be one of my least favourite male characters ever as he was awful to Lexi even when he says he loves her he then goes and treats her the way he did just makes me want to never read about him again. I do usually like a bad boy in the books I read but he took it to a whole new level. Ramsey was one of my favourite characters for the most part as he was funny but then when things was revealed about him I just don't know what I think of him anymore but I do see he cares. All of Jack's girlfriends where annoying apart from the first one Danielle but that is because we didn't even meet her.

Overall this book just wasn't for me and I can't see myself continuing on with this series but I will read K.A. Linde's other books as I have read one that I loved so there is hope with her other series just not this on.

Book Review: Goddess (Starcrossed, #3) by Josephine Angelini

(Click image to take you to Goodreads)

Format: Paperback
Publishers: Pan Macmillan
Published: 23rd May 2013
Pages: 448
Genre: YA, Paranormal Romance,
Main Characters: Helen, Lucas, Orion,
Date Read: 4th January - 15th January 2015
Rating Given:
 photo fourfive.jpg

Synopsis:
After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.
To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.
In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.

I received this awhile ago for review in exchange for an honest review and now I have finally gotten around to reading it.

I do love the covers for all this series in the UK but I must admit that this one is my favourite which I think has to do with the colour. There is a hint of what the story involves but I wish it was a bit more.

I've never been in love with this series until this book and even though I can't really remember what happened in the previous books I still feel like this last book outshone the others by a mile. I did get a little lost in the beginning but that had more to do with not remembering what had happened in the previous book even if there was a few reminders I was still a little lost. There was so much happening in this climax to the series that had me on the edge of my seat especially the last few chapters. I'm not going to tell you what I thought about the romance side of the story as I don't want to give anything away but what I will say is everything happened how I wanted it to happen. The ending I felt let this book down a little bit as there was still a few unanswered questions which made me wish there was another book in the future or even a novella just so things get cleared up.

I feel like my opinion for most of the characters changed throughout this book and some not in a good way. I felt that Helen really grew up in this book as there was a lot of new things happened to her making physically stronger as well as mentally. I did feel sorry for her at times with how people treated her especially ones that are supposed to know her the best. I have always loved Lucas and that didn't change in this book and like Helen I felt sorry for him but not for the same reasons. Like Lucas, Orion has always been a favourite character of mine and again that didn't change. We go to know more about Orion which was nice to see how he became the boy he is today. Claire and Ariadne disappointed me in this book in the way they where towards Helen especially Claire as she should have known better. Hector I loved just as much as Lucas and Orion.

Overall a fitting end to this series but there was just a few too many unanswered questions for me to give it 5/5 like I would've liked.

Blurb:
Chloe knew she was giving up the quiet life when she married Hollywood A-lister, Jason Vanderholt. She expected harassment from paparazzi but not from the writers of Blood Ritual, a television crime drama that brought national attention to a tough case she is trying to solve as a forensic scientist. While she and the rest of the Albuquerque Police Department once collaborated with the show, now relations have gone sour, and details that the police are trying to keep secret in the investigation are cropping up in episodes of a show watched by millions.

If that weren’t enough, everyone in Chloe’s life seems to be going through a rough patch, from her best friend, Lori, who is trying to plan a wedding, to her niece Kyra who is upset about Jason’s choice of television roles, to Jason himself who is inexplicably moody and withdrawn. None of this drama is the type of thing Chloe knows how to resolve.

She is trained to do one thing: hunt down the big bad wolves of the world, but with her connections to fame compromising her work, she may not even be allowed to stay on the case. The clock is ticking as law enforcement agencies across the country try to find a serial killer before he strikes again. Chloe is faced with a choice, to help catch one of the most evil criminals in history, or provide support to the friends and family who have always been there for her. Either way, she knows she might make the mistake of a lifetime.

Published: 8th May 2014
Pages: 304
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance,
Main Characters: Evelyn, David

 photo five.jpg

Synopsis:
Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

I requested this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The cover for this book is stunning as the use of colours especially in the tattoo make this cover stand out. I would say it was the cover that drew me into wanting to read this book.

As soon as I started this book I was completely drawn into this book, I just didn't want to put it down and when I had to I was thinking about it. Was there flaws? Yes Did I mind those flaws? No. I was thinking about having to lower the rating I gave it but I couldn't do it as I was too enthralled with the story that I was able to forgive the never knowing what happened before they got married. The other thing I was able to forgive was the way in which one minute Evelyn hated David then the next minute she was forgive him his not so nice moments. I loved that this book started with the marriage and then they got to know one another as it was different to other books that I have read. The chemistry between Evelyn and David really did sizzle and you could tell how they felt for one another even if they didn't realise it themselves. I would have loved to have read this from alternating pov's as I really need to get inside David's head to see what he was thinking. The ending was perfect for this story and I do hope that we get to see more of these two in the next books which I'm sure we will. Fingers crossed.

I loved almost all of the characters. Evelyn was a great female character who was insecure about herself as well as not being this stick thin woman it made a refreshing change. Evelyn was a sweet person who at times I felt sorry for especially when people would call her for her weight. There was times when I wanted to slap her though but I guess in the end I could see where she was coming from. David I absolutely adored and he broke my heart a little bit at the beginning when Evelyn forgot about everything that happened between them. There was times when he acted like a jerk but like Evelyn by the end I understood why he acted the way he did. I liked that we got a little introduction to the rest of the band even if some of them I wasn't quite sure about but I'm sure that will change as it started to change with Jimmy. Mal has to be my favourite so I'm glad that it's his book next.

Overall this was an amazing start to the Stage Dive series and I can't wait to find out more about the rest of the band. I am also looking forward to reading other series from the amazing Kylie Scott.
