Book Tag: Social Media

The Reading Pile has taken inspiration from the vloging Book Tag community over to the blogging world. Like her I'm not actually going to tag anyone but you're more than welcome to give it a try like I have just head over to her page and leave a link in her comments or in mine as I'm nosey and love to know what everyone else has done.

Over at The Reading Pile she has done the posts every Thursday and has already done a few so I thought I would go through the ones she has already done and do the ones I like the look of.

My Book Tag post this week is: Social Media:

1. Twitter: What is your favourite short book?
My Love Lies Bleeding by Alyxandra Harvey - This was actually one of my first short books that I have read and when I saw how short it was I was actually disappointed as I thought it can't have much story if it's so short but boy was I wrong.

2. Facebook: A book everyone pressured you into reading?
Angelfall by Susan Ee - If I hear about a book that everyone has read and loved I feel as though I need to see what all the fuss is about. This book I'm glad everyone kept going on about how amazing this book was as I don't think I would have heard about it otherwise which would have bee a shame because everyone was right as this is one amazing book.

3. Tumblr: What book did you read before it was cool?
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry - This question was hard as I am always behind on starting series and end up jumping on the bandwaggon when it's been out for years. The only time this doesn't happen is when I have a book for review and actually get around to reading it before the release date which is what happened with Pushing the Limits so technically I read it before it was cool as I read it before the release date.

4. Myspace: Pick a book you don't remember whether you liked or not?
Sabriel by Garth Nix - I read this before I even knew what Goodreads was so when I first read this I didn't review it. I actually thought I really enjoyed this book but then when I went on Goodreads to look at 3 star ratings this was there so now I can't remember whether I loved it or not I think a reread is in order.

5. Instagram: Pick a book that was so beautiful you had to instagram it?
Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick - I don't actually use Intagram but if I did this cover would be the one I would instagram as it's stunning and it is by far my favourite cover and the story matches as well.

6. Youtube: Pick a book you wish could be turned into a movie?
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi - This question was hard because pretty much every book that I adore I want to see on the big screene. Angelfall would definitely have been the answer to this one but i already used that in a previous question so I thought I would randomly pick another one and found Shatter Me which I think would translate well on film.

7. Goodreads: A book you recommend to everyone?
Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase - Again a tough question when I've read so many amazing books that I would highly recommend. I went with this one in the end as I don't think it is as well known in the UK as my other favourites.

Waiting on Wednesday - Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book I can't wait for...

Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road, #1) by Katie McGarry
Expected Publication: 26th May 2015

Synopsis:
An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible.
Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.
Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.
No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

So excited for a new series from Katie McGarry as I have loved her Pushing the Limits series lets hope that Thunder Road is just as good!

Waiting on Wednesday - Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book I can't wait for...

Breaking the Rules (Pushing the Limits, #1.5)
by Katie McGarry
Expected Publication: 8th December 2014

Synopsis:
A summer road trip changes everything in this unforgettable new tale from acclaimed author Katie McGarry
For new high school graduate Echo Emerson, a summer road trip out west with her boyfriend means getting away and forgetting what makes her so... different. It means seeing cool sights while selling her art at galleries along the way. And most of all, it means almost three months alone with Noah Hutchins, the hot, smart, soul-battered guy who’s never judged her. Echo and Noah share everything — except the one thing Echo’s just not ready for.
But when the source of Echo’s constant nightmares comes back into her life, she has to make some tough decisions about what she really wants — even as foster kid Noah’s search for his last remaining relatives forces them both to confront some serious truths about life, love, and themselves.
Now, with one week left before college orientation, jobs and real life, Echo must decide if Noah's more than the bad-boy fling everyone warned her he'd be. And the last leg of an amazing road trip will turn... seriously epic.

I absolutely adored Pushing the Limits so imagine my delight that we are going back to Echo and Noah! I am so excited about this read even if it is a short one.

Synopsis:
In Red at Night, Stella and Jonah are total opposites. She's the girl with purple hair from the wrong part of town. He's a high school senior who hangs with the cool crowd. Until a car accident leaves him haunted by guilt, and Jonah starts spending time at Stella's favorite refuge…the local cemetery.
Stella knows she should keep her distance—after all, she spent her girlhood being bullied by Jonah's friends. Once he's sorted out his tangled emotions, Jonah won't have time for her anymore. Too bad she's already fallen for him.

“Do you think people can change?” I ask Rick.
“Yes,” he answers plainly. “There are those who can.”
That grabs my attention. “So you believe it’s possible?”
“Miss Stella .” He gives me his teacher-to -pupil stare. “It boils down to choice.”

It took awhile for this to be available on Amazon UK but as soon as it did I just had to get it and with it being free as well, well I was in my elements...

I love this cover which I think has more to with the use of colours in the background as it makes the cover visually stunning. I love the composition of the title and the way it's in big letters just makes it stand out.

With this being a novella I was a little bit worried about reading as sometimes short stories don't have the depth that a full length novel does but I should have had more faith in Katie McGarry as she did a fabulous job. I was so drawn into this story I just couldn't stop reading it and when it came to an end I was sad that there wasn't any more I just hope that Katie will revisit Jonah and Stella again in the future. I loved the friendship between Stella and Jonah as you wouldn't expect it especially when they have known each other for awhile. The only reason why it didn't get the full star rating was because of the ending as I didn't feel like there was any real closure for Stella and Jonah, it was a cute ending but just not enough for me.

I loved the two main characters equally as they both had a lot of baggage that they had to deal with but both of them together was able to help one another get through some very tough times.

Overall I loved this novella I just wanted a bit more at the end for it to be perfect!

“For a few seconds, I want to know what it’s like not to settle or dream, but to live. To be the girl who’s cared for, to be the girl who’s cherished, to be the girl who’s kissed.”

BOTM #32

A bit of a slow month of reading for me in May, which I think has something to do with trying to read Wicked I just couldn't get into it. Just under halfway through I decided to stop reading it and I will hopefully go back to it at a later date when Wicked the show isn't so fresh in my mind. It also took me awhile to read the first few books of the month as it took me a little time to get into them but I eventually did.

Here's what I read in May:

  • Camp Boyfriend (Camp Boyfriend, #1) by J.K. Rock - 3.5/5
  • Entwined by Heather Dixon - 3/5
  • Flight (The Crescent Chronicles, #1)by Alyssa Rose Ivy - 3/5
  • Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer - 5/5
  • Legal Affairs - Confessions of a Litigation God by Sawyer Bennett - 5/5
  • Take Me On (Pushing the Limits, #4) by Katie McGarry - 4/5
  • Off the Record (Record, #1) by K.A. Linde - 4.5/5

And the book of the month goes to...

Another month where I couldn't pick just one favourite book. Both of these where the only 5 star books that I read so it only seemed fair to have them joint favourites plus they are both completely different so there's no way to compare them. I was addicted to both of these books that when I was reading them I just didn't want to put either of them down, I loved every minute of both of these books and I can't wait to read more from both of these authors.
