Battle Angel (Immortal City #3) by Scott Speer

Release Date: 28th August 2014

Blurb:
(Don't read blurb if you haven't read the first two as it may contain spoilers!)

It's going to take a lot more than fame to save the Immortal City in its darkest hour. . . .

With Maddy torn between two loves, Guardian Jackson and heroic pilot Tom, and Angels and humans on the brink of an epic war, the Immortal City is more vulnerable than ever. And when demons descend upon Angel City with the intent to destroy, the humans don't stand a fighting chance without the Angels on their side.

Will Jacks find the strength and forgiveness to enter the fray and fight the demons as a stronger-than-ever Battle Angel? Or has the damage been so great that the Guardians will set off for the next place, abandoning Angel City in its darkest hour?

It all comes down to love-wrecked half-Angel Maddy and the strength of her bond with Jackson in this game-changing, thrice-as-sultry series finale that blends beautiful themes of redemption and renewal with heart-pounding action scenes and jaw-dropping twists.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series but I still haven't read the second one yet but I will get around to it soon as I have it on my shelf. I might leave it until this one is released as it's a long wait for this one.

What's your WOW?

BOTM #7

Here's the books that I read in April 2012:
  • Mortal Kiss by Alice Moss
  • Gift by Andrea J. Buchanan
  • Immortal City by Scott Speer
  • Struck by Jennifer Bosworth
  • Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt
  • Endure by Carrie Jones
  • Candlewax by C. Bailey Sims
  • A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
And the book of the month goes too...

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Another hard month of books to choose from as there was quite a few five star books but in the end the winner could only go to this book. The reason why it had to be this one was because I loved it so much and I couldn't put it down but when I had to put it down I was thinking about it even during my Zumba class!
A very addicting book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Divergent was actually finished today so no review at the minute but one will be coming very soon.

Not that far into it as of yet but it was a bit of a slow start and now I am getting more and more into it. I just hope this can continue to improve.

Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt
Again not that far into this book but it has been confusing to start with. The further I get into it starts making more sense which then leads me to enjoy it.

Book Review: Immortal City (Immortal City #1)

Immortal City (Immortal City #1) by Scott Speer

Format: Paperback (arc)
Publishers: Scholastic UK Ltd.
Published: 5th April 2012
Pages: 406
Main Characters: Maddy, Jackson
Date Started: 3rd April 2012
Date Finished: 7th April 2012
Rating Given: *****

Goodreads:
Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them. He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect - everyone except for Madison Montgomery.

Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.

Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat … and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson.

Move over you normal celebrities there's a new kind of celebrity in town...Angels!

This book sounded so good I just couldn't wait for it to come out so I asked for a review copy. I am so grateful to Scholastic UK for giving me the chance to review it as it is up there with my favourite reads of the year!

I haven't read many books that have been written by a male author but when I have I haven't really enjoyed them so I usually stick with the female authors until now. I am so glad I gave another male author a chance as otherwise I wouldn't have been able to read one of the best book that I have read so far.

I fell in love with this book from the moment I started reading it as from the very first page something was happening. From then on there was always something happening hardly giving me time to catch my breath it was so entertaining. There is also so many twists and turns into the story that it is hard to keep up but that's just another reason to love the book.

The whole concept was a refreshing change to the usual angel books that I read as I like Maddy and Jackson didn't know who was the good guys and that included the archangels. It's more of a modern take on angels were instead of saving people for the good of man kind, they get paid to save people who has enough money to afford them so whoever don't have money don't get saved until Jackson.

Jackson or otherwise known as Jacks is such a great male character he is sweet and all he cares about is getting the chance to be Guardian Angel so he can save people. He believes in what the Angel's are told but I think that's because it's what he has grown up to believe. So when he meets Maddy who isn't like everyone else she believes it should be how it used to be. I actually like the will they-won't they part of the story every time you think they are going to get together something is thrown in their way it just makes me want to continue the series even more. I can't wait to see what will happen to them next.

Overall a great debut novel from the very talented Scott Speer I can't wait for the next instalment.

Teaser Tuesday #18

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

My Teasers:

Immortal City by Scott Speer

The headlights of an approaching ambulance swept over the scene.
"Good night, Brad," the Angel said, and smiled.
"Good-" Brad began to reply, but trailed off as he realized the Guardian was already gone. Alone now, standing in the cold, Brad began to shake uncontrollably. The realization had only just hit him. The realization that he should be dead. - Page 5
Not actually started this book just yet but I will have done before the day is out so I thought I would look for a quote from it. I didn't want to go far into the book as I didn't want to spoil it for you guys as well as myself but this quote sounds interesting and makes me wonder what is happening and what is going to happen.

                          Gift by Andrea J. Buchanan

Danielle couldn't understand why it bothered me. "Let it go," she said. "So what? A weird thing happened and she doesn't want to talk about it. I probably wouldn't want to, either. What's the big deal? I know you're, like, special and all, but are you also know her guardian for life or something?"
I couldn't explain it to Danielle, or even to myself, really, but it just felt important. Something had happened when I found Vivi, and like it or not, we were, as she said, connected. - Page 12
Not read much of this book but this does make me intrigued to find out what is going to happen next.

These are my teasers for the week what are yours?
