Click images to take you to Goodreads.

Physical Book
I wasn't a huge fan of the first one but I did get the second one (which I haven't read yet) for review so when I saw this hardback copy of the final book for only £1.46 I just had to get it which was a lot cheaper than the paperback version!

Kindle Books Bought

Looking forward to reading both of these books as I have read other books by these authors which I have loved so I'm hoping that I will love these ones just as much.

Waiting on Wednesday - Inherit Midnight by Kate Kae Myers

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book I can't wait for...

Inherit Midnight by Kate Kae Myers
Expected Publication: 10th February 2015

Synopsis:
The Competition:
Outlandishly wealthy Grandmother VanDemere has decided to leave her vast fortune to the family member who proves him or herself worthiest-by solving puzzles and riddles on a whirlwind race around the globe, from the mines of Venezuela to the castles of Scotland. There will be eight competitors, three continents . . . and a prize worth millions.
The Players:
Seventeen-year-old Avery is the black sheep of the VanDemere clan, the ostracized illegitimate daughter. Finally, she has a chance to prove herself . . . and to discover the truth about her long-lost mother.
Marshall might be Avery's uncle, but there's no love lost between the two of them. He's her main competition, and he'll do anything to win-including betray his own children.
Riley is the handsome son of Grandmother VanDemere's lawyer. As the game progresses, Avery falls hard for Riley. Suddenly, losing the game might mean losing him, too.
As the competition takes treacherous turns, it becomes clear there can only be one victor. Who can Avery truly trust? And is winning worth her life?

It's been awhile now since I read Kate's debut novel The Vanishing Game which I adored so when looking for a new book to use for a wow post I was so happy to find this book and now I'm so excited. I just hope that this book will live up to her first book which I'm sure it will.

What are you waiting on?

Top 10 Tuesday #11

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday everyone involved in the TTT will make a list of that weeks topic.

This weeks topic is: Kate's Top 10 All Time Favourite Characters

This one is a toughie but one that I just had to do. Some of them has more than one in the same spot but they needed to be there together. Click on the blue part to take you to Goodreads to find out more about the series.

  1. Jace/Clary from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: Both these characters are my all time favourites as they both bring out the best (and sometimes the worse) in each other. Jace has always been my favourite male character but when he is talking or thinking about Clary he shows a more vulnerable side to him.
  2. Nicholas/Lucy from Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey: Another two that I have chosen together as I just loved it when we first meet these two when in the same room it is really funny and I love to be able to laugh out loud when reading.
  3. Loki from Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking: Loki isn't in the first one but we do meet him in the second. The very first moment we are introduced to his character I fell for him straight away. He is funny but he also has a serious side to him. He was a great addition to this series.
  4. Jocelyn from The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers: I love Jocelyn's character because of everything she goes through throughout this book and she still keeps going shows an inner strength that I think is needed in a strong female character.
  5. Will from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare: I love Will's character as he would do anything for Tessa even if it means hurting her. In the second of this series we see such a more softer/vulnerable side to him which makes me love him all the more. My heart does break for him as well!
  6. Claire from The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine: Claire is such a strong character in this series she seems to be the one keeping people alive.
  7. Peeta from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: Peeta from the moment you see him you just know he loves Katniss and he would do anything for her.
  8. Harry/Ron/Harmione from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling: I love these characters the same amount especially when they are together they have a great partnership and I love some of the one liners each of them says.
  9. Rose/Dimitri from The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: These two characters are just strong minded and I just love the chemistry between them both. I love the series even more when it's scenes between the two of them.
  10. Patch from Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: I love Patch even if I am never sure if he is good or bad I just love the presence of him in this series.
So that's my top 10 characters, what's yours?

Follow Friday #14

Follow Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This is a great way to discover new blogs and make new friends! This weeks featured are Mercurial Musings and Owl Tell You About It.

Q: What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?

A: Well there are a few books that I would love to see either on the big or small screen and I am not very good at picturing actors/actresses so I might not have them in mind yet but you guys feel free to let me know who you would love to see as these characters I am open to suggestions.
The first one would be The Demon Trappers by Jana Oliver I think this would make an epic film but it would have to be done like Harry Potter and Twilight as there are four books to this series and I wouldn't want them to condense it into one film. I can just see it now with it being dark and with loads of action set in the future it has the makings of being awesome! I am not sure about who could play Riley as she needs to be a strong independent woman/girl but everyone that could play her are too old to play her so maybe a new actress for her would be the best bet. As for Beck now that's hard maybe Chris Hemsworth would be good I know he is older than Beck but he doesn't look older. He would probably need to have contacts but I think he could so pull it off well now I am getting all dreamy and can't think of anyone else ;)
Other books that I would suggest would be The Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey not sure whether it should be a film or TV show but with the vampire's being popular at the minute this one would probably do well as well.
The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers would be great as a mini series as there is so much suspense and mystery it would be a great addition to these TV genres.

BOTM #5

February is now coming to an end so here is a list I read this month:
  • The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers
  • After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel
  • Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley
  • Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan
  • Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different by Karen Blumenthal
  • Dark Angel by Eden Maguire
  • Illuminate by Aimee Agresti
  • Torn by Amanda Hocking

And the book of the month goes to...

The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers
In the end there was only one winner for this month as this was by far my best and favourite read of this month (I did start it in January but more days read in February). This was an out-standing book that I would recommend that anyone who hasn't read it or not sure about it to go for it you won't be sorry as it's an amazing book. This book is that good that is already a contender for my book of 2012 an amazingly thrilling book. For my full review click here.

Top Ten Tuesday #9

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday everyone involved in the TTT will make a list of that weeks topic.

This weeks topic is: Top Ten Books To Save If My House Were Abducted By Aliens (or any other disaster struck)

This is a real toughie as I have quite a few favourites and most of them are series so what I will have to do is class the series as one otherwise this list would never end!

Here goes nothing!

  1. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: My all time favourite series that I just couldn't go without!
  2. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare: Another favourite of mine and I can't leave Will behind!
  3. The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers: Technically I would be saving my laptop for this one until I got a hardcopy of it but I just have fallen in love with it and it is up there with Cassandra Clare books.
  4. Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey: I haven't even caught up with this series yet so I would have to save them all just so I knew what happened with all the Drake's!
  5. Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: This series I would have to save as they are my all time favourite book covers that it would be a crime for them to be destroyed!
  6. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles: I love this series and it was the series that made me venture into knew genre's. It just has to be saved!
  7. Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles: Again I love this series and it would be a crime to be left behind!
  8. The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine: I love the series and the covers enough said!!
  9. The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: Another favourite series of mine and I would make sure the last one was there as the cover was different to the rest of them and it's beautiful.
  10. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: Stunning series and even though the last one wasn't as good it's still one of the best series around and it always gets a reaction.
I love all these books and I would just have to save them as they are well worth the risk! There is also a lot of books that I haven't even read yet and maybe I would try and sneak them with me as well!!

Book Review: The Vanishing Game

The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers

Format: e-arc
Publisher: Bloomsbury Children's Books
Publishes: 14th February 2012
Pages: 353
Main Characters: Jocelyn, Noah and Jack
Date Started: 29th January 2012
Date Finished: 5th February 2012
Rating Given: *****

Netgalley:
A riveting thriller about a teen who thought her twin was dead—until he started writing her letters.
Jocelyn's twin brother Jack was the only family she had growing up in a world of foster homes—and now he's dead, and she has nothing. Then she gets a cryptic letter from "Jason December"—the code name her brother used to use when they were children at Seale House, a terrifying foster home that they believed had dark powers. Only one other person knows about Jason December: Noah, Jocelyn's childhood crush and their only real friend among the troubled children at Seale House.

But when Jocelyn returns to Seale House and the city where she last saw Noah, she gets more than she bargained for. Turns out the house's powers weren't just a figment of a childish imagination. And someone is following Jocelyn. Is Jack still alive? And if he is, what kind of trouble is he in? The answer is revealed in a shocking twist that turns this story on its head and will send readers straight back to page 1 to read the book in a whole new light.

Kate Kae Myers is a sign language interpreter for deaf main streamed high school students. She also runs her high school's creative writing club. This is her first novel.

I wanted to read this book because it sounded really good and I loved the front cover so I knew I had to give it a try. What I never knew was how much I was going to love it.

The Vanishing Game is a completely different kind of book in which I normally read so I wasn't expecting to love it but that's what I did. I loved everything about this book I don't even think that there is anything that I don't like. It was full of twists and turns I never knew what was going to happen next it was such a thrilling roller coaster ride which I never wanted to get off from.

It had loads of heartbreaking scenes which you kind of expect when Jocelyn's brother dies but it has more than that as I was laughing and crying and even awwing as well as getting mad I was so enthralled with this novel I didn't want to read the other book I was reading which hardly ever happens to me.

Jocelyn's character is a fiery one she will stand up for what she believes in no matter what anyone thinks. There was times when she did have a bit of a meltdown but you could tell it wasn't something that she would normally do. I really felt for her character and I just wanted her to triumph.

I loved Noah's character as well but I tended to feel what Jocelyn was feeling so when she couldn't trust him neither could I when usually I am on the guy's side.

The way in which they went through there past was a great idea to do as they did it in different chapters so then more of the jigsaw would fit together, but even when you thought you had it all figured out there was a HUGE twist towards the end which I never saw coming. Even though I never saw it coming it still made since to what had happened previously.

Overall a FANTASTIC debut novel from Kate Kae Myers such a thrilling book and one I would recommend that everyone should read. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Teaser Tuesday #9

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

My teaser:

The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers

I scanned the garage and saw two doors. One led inside, the other to the backyard. That was where I needed to go, but I'd have to be quite so he didn't hear me. I knew from spying on him that the other half of the duplex was empty. At least there wouldn't be the problem of avoiding nosey neighbours. I'd taken only a few steps when the soft sound of grit crunching on cement startled me. Spinning around, I saw Noah's large frame half a second before he slammed into me,  knocking me back against his Jeep. The jolt sent a crack of pain up my neck and I cried out. He squelched the sound by wrapping his hands around my throat. I struggled against him, but he had the arms of an orangutan. I couldn't reach him with my blows and he easily avoided my kicks. Fighting him didn't work, so I desperately tried to explain, but his hands gripped harder until only a few grunts and gasps escaped me as my body fought for air. He had me. There was nothing I could do. - Page unknown.

This was from early on in the book but as you can tell it is full of action and it doesn't stop there it is such a thrilling book that I can't wait to find out what is going to happen next!

This quote is from an e-arc so could be different in the final edition.
