It's Monday What Are You Reading? #16

It's Monday What Are You Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey in which we plan our reading week!

                                                     Finished Reading

After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel
Not the best book that I have ever read. It was really hard to get into and I didn't like the relationship between the two main characters. Loads of potential but in the end fell a bit flat. To see my review click here.

Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley
I really enjoyed this book as it was beautifully written and this time I loved the characters and the interaction between the two main characters. It was a very descriptive book which did take some getting used to but once I did I fell in love with the book. For my review click here.

Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan
It started off a bit slow and didn't really understand what was going on or even some of the language used but I have now gotten into it so much so I look forward to reading the next chapter.

Illuminate by Aimee Agresti
Not sure what the story is actually about yet but then again I have only read the first two chapters I do hope something happens soon!

Dark Angel by Eden Maguire
I have had this book sitting on my shelf for quite some time now so I thought I should finally get around to reading it. I just hope I love it as much as the cover!

Book Review: After Obsession

After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel

Format: Paperback (arc)
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Published: 13th September 2011
Pages: 307
Main Characters: Aimee, Alan, Courtney
Date Started: 5th February 2012
Date Finished: 9th February 2012
Rating Given: **

Goodreads:
Aimee and Alan have secrets. Both teens have unusual pasts and abilities they prefer to keep hidden. But when they meet each other, in a cold Maine town, they can't stop their secrets from spilling out. Strange things have been happening lately, and they both feel that something-or someone- is haunting them. They're wrong. Despite their unusual history and powers, it's neither Aimee nor Alan who is truly haunted. It's Alan's cousin Courtney who, in a desperate plea to find her missing father, has invited a demon into her life-and into her body. Only together can Aimee and Alan exorcise the ghost. And they have to move quickly, before it devours not just Courtney but everything around her.

Filled with heart-pounding romance, paranormal activity, and rich teen characters to love-and introducing an exciting new YA voice, Steven Wedel-this novel is exactly what Carrie Jones fans have been waiting for. Meet your next obsession.

I had high hopes for this book it sounded like it had such potential but in the end it just fell flat.

This book was a different kind of book for me which wasn't a good experience. I have watched films/TV with the same kind of theme but done better as it was made more creepier which is the main thing that didn't work for me, for example, the bad guy was called 'The River Man' which as you can see is not creepy.

The other thing that fell flat was the romance side of the book with Aimee and Alan it just happened one minute they couldn't go there and then the next minute they was calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend. Aimee was an alright character on her own and especially with her brother just not with Alan. I didn't like the way she understood about the possession yet she still couldn't forgive Blake yet she could Courtney. Alan again was an alright character and very sweet it just didn't work with the chemistry.

One of the side stories was a bit weird as well with a Cheeto that supposedly looked like Marilyn Monroe even though everyone else thought otherwise it was just a random and pointless part of the story.

What I did like about this book was the possession of some of the village it was written really well but I think it could have been taken further. I did like the action towards the end it really kept you on the edge I just wish there was more of this in the whole of the book.

This book is a stand alone book which I was actually very disappointed with because there was still a lot of unanswered questions and with it being a short book it felt very rushed where they could have took there time and made it into a trilogy it could have been so much better that way.

I haven't read many duet authors the ones that I have one the partnerships worked and another partnership never worked for me and this partnership falls in the never worked category.

Overall it wasn't the worst book that I have ever read but it by far wasn't the best.

Teaser Tuesday #10

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

My Teasers:

After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel

"Okay. If Court or anyone hasn't told you already... my mom died a few years ago." She swallows. "She was sick. It was a ... a mental illness. Bi-polar disorder. Everyone says she killed herself."
I'd heard of that. "I'm sorry."
"Afterwards, me and Court and some other friends had a seance in my house because I missed her so much, you know, and I just wanted to see if she was okay. I don't think any of us actually expected it to work or anything, you know? My dreams or 'psychic visions' started for real after that. It got really freaky. I mean, really freaky." - Page 91
I'm not sure about this book it seems ok but it has picked up now that things are happening I just hope it picks up a bit more.

                        Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley

I come out of the bathroom and the first thing I see is Ed. Okay, it was a long shot, but I was half hoping he'd cease to exist while we were gone. I feel a little tingle when he turns but I put it down to the fall I had during my toilet escape. That and the thought of meeting Shadow.
I don't look at him as I slide into his side of the booth. I'm not here for Ed. I'm here for my young and scruffy artist. - Page 45

I started off thinking this wasn't going to be that interesting but by the second chapter I was starting to get addicted to it can't wait to read the rest.

Both quotes may be different to the final copy as both are arc copies
