Synopsis:

From USA Today best selling author, R.J. Prescott...
Marie Kelly is a survivor who doesn’t know when to quit. Against all odds, she’s living a life she never dreamed she could have. It was enough…until a stubborn fighter makes her want more.
Irish charmer Kieran Doherty has been a fighter at Driscoll’s Gym for most of his life. He’s been content to let his best friend take the spotlight, now it’s his turn to make a name for himself in the world of heavy weight champions. Falling in love is the one thing he vowed never to do, but meeting Marie changed everything.
It’s easy to imagine a happy ever after when the sun is shining. But when the storm comes, and all hope seems lost, they both learn that if you want something badly enough, you have to be willing to fight for it.
The Storm is a stand alone companion novel to The Hurricane and The Storm. Heavy language and sexual content means that this book is intended for persons aged 18+.

I was given the opportunity to read and review this book from the author.

I love the cover and I especially love the way in which it ties in with the Hurricane series. I can really see this model as Kieran which is great as it gives me an idea of the look of him without even reading the book. Love the colours as it makes this particular cover/series stand out.

I was very nervous about reading this book as I was scared that I wouldn't love it as much as the others I mean how can you improve on perfection but that's what Prescott did. I don't know why I had to go and spoil myself by reading this book as the last time I read something by R.J. Prescott it was ages before I was able to get into anything else as it was just too good and I have a feeling that I won't be able to get into anything after this one. As soon as I started this book I knew I was onto a winner as I was consumed by it from the very beginning to the very end. In the first chapter I had already laughed out loud and nearly broke down but then towards the end I was in pieces, I haven't cried like that from a book in a long while. Whilst reading this book I felt like I was at home as the relationship between every character and not just the two main characters was beautiful to see I could feel through the pages the love for one another. The chemistry between Marie and Kieran was off the charts they where so good together and seemed to bring the best out in each other. What's great about this book is that it doesn't repeat the same outline as other contemporary romance novels which I think is rather refreshing as I never saw anything coming. I loved the end as everything felt wrapped up neatly as well as left it open for Tommy's book which I'm very excited about.

What I think this book does over any other book that I've read is that Prescott has been able to make the characters come alive and it felt like I could see them all right in front of me. I pretty much loved every character apart from one and even that person had me feeling sorry for him when we find out a bit more with his background. Marie was a great character as she was such a strong person especially going through what she did throughout her whole life. As for Kieran I had loved him from the previous books and I don't know how it happened but I loved him all the more as not only was he a fierce guy but he was also very funny and he showed a softer and vulnerable side to him. I loved getting to see how Con and Em where doing and then there was Tommy he was hilarious and I am so excited to read his next book especially after what had happened to him towards the end of this book. There was some great new additions to the story including Marie's family.

Overall, I could go on and on about how much I love this book. There was not one part of this book that I was engrossed in, it was just amazing and I know that R.J. Prescott is one of my all time favourite authors as she is always able to knock it out of the park and I for one can't wait to read more from her and not just from this series but anything that she creates I just know I will love it.

Synopsis:

When small-town girl Heather Fowler finally gets promoted from assistant to actual wedding planner, she's determined to make it as one of Manhattan's elite Wedding Belles. Unfortunately, her first client demands an opulent black-tie affair at the Plaza...in five months' time. Heather's days quickly become a flurry of cake tastings, dress-fittings, RSVP cards, and bridal tantrums. But what she's really losing sleep over is the live music blaring from her playboy neighbor's apartment all night.

Five years ago, Josh Tanner was an up-and-comer on Wall Street, complete with the penthouse and the migraines. But a grim cancer diagnosis made him realize there is more to life than the corner office. If only he could convince his pretty, workaholic neighbor to let loose, too. As Heather lets down her guard, Josh is surprised when he starts falling for the sweet, vulnerable woman hiding beneath those power suits. Soon, it's Heather's turn to convince Josh to take the biggest risk of all: love.

I received a review copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

There's not much difference between this book and the first book so for me there's no improvement but it's a descent looking cover.

I didn't think Lauren Layne could improve on the previous book but this one has definitely done it as it was more enjoyable even if it was ever so slightly. I think what made this book slightly better was the humour as this one seemed to be a lot more funnier than the previous book. There was never a dull moment in this book as not only was it funny it also had a very serious subject matter involved which I actually liked that it was tackled more light hearted. The chemistry between the two main characters was smoking hot and I loved their banter. I loved the ending of this book as I felt it ended perfectly for this book and now I'm very excited to start the last book.

I loved every single character in this book with no one that I disliked. Heather was a great female character who held her own throughout. Josh has to be one of my favourite ever male characters as he was so funny and such a scene stealer. What worked even more with this book was the interaction between Heather and Josh as there was plenty of banter and on top of that they where there for one another which was nice to see.

Overall, I loved every minute of this book and there was not one dull moment, bring on the next book is all I can say.

I received a review copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I like this cover but it wasn't what drew me to the book as I think it's a little bit too plain but it has everything you need to see in the book on the cover which is why I'm ok with the cover.

I've read a few Lauren Layne books now and even though I have really enjoyed each and everyone of them I still hadn't read a 5/5 (in my opinion) until now. I wasn't sure I was going to like the whole wedding concept of the story as I've read recently an amazing weeding based book so I didn't think anything could get any better but this did and then some. I loved reading every minute of this book there was nothing that stopped me from falling deeper and deeper in love with it. It had everything I could want in a book as it had the romance and it had the humour which is a favourite in any contemporary romance book there was just something magical about this book. The romance between the two main characters sizzled straight off the pages they felt so right for one another. I wasn't sure I was going to like the whole wedding concept of the story as I've read recently an amazing weeding based book so I didn't think anything could get any better but this did and then some. The ending was so sweet and heart warming it's got me excited to read the rest of the series.

I pretty much loved every character in this book. Brooke was a great female character as she didn't want the past to effect her present and even though it did at times, she was still trying and that's different to other female characters I've read about. I felt Brooke was a sweet character and only Seth was able to bring out her darker side which I actually liked as well. Seth I loved from the moment Lauren Layne introduced him even if he was a bit annoying at times I was still able to like him. There was some great secondary characters including Seth's sister and best friend. I also loved the other Belle's and I'm very much looking forward to their stories.

Overall, I adored this book there was nothing that I didn't like about it.

My Review:

I was given the chance to review this book and considering Nichole Chase is one of my favourite authors I jumped at the chance.

I'm not the biggest fan of the cover as for me it just doesn't work with the novel. I do like the colours that have been used but I think I would've preferred it in black and white.

As soon as I started reading this book I just new I was going to love it as right from the beginning I was hooked and I stayed hooked until the very end. I liked that it wasn't mainly focused on politics as not being from America I could've easily got confused but thankfully that wasn't the case and even when there was politics involved I understood what was going on. The relationship between Maddie and Jake was great as I loved their interactions between one another and I felt their chemistry was off the charts. One of the things that I loved most about this book was the after effects of being injured in action as I felt it was very delicately done and I even forgot until it was mentioned. I found that I felt so many emotions throughout this book as I would one minute be laughing and in the next moment I was nearly in tears. The ending ended perfectly and has made me eager to read the rest of the series.

I pretty much loved all the characters with a couple of exception but that was because of the way that they treated the other characters. When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure I was going to like Maddie or even Jake but by the end I loved them both. I felt Maddie really grew as a person throughout this book and I found myself routing for her. Jake had a lot of things that he had to get through so there was times when he wasn't the kindest person but I was able to forgive him as I felt that I was able to understand where he was coming from. I loved Jake's sisters and I hope they get their own book as I can't wait to get to know them even better. The people that really stole the show was seeing Sam and Alex from Suddenly Royal with a new addition it was great to have a bit of catch up from them as I felt it tied a few loose ends from the Suddenly Royal series.

Overall, this was an amazing read that had everything that I could've ever wished for I just hope the rest of the series is just as good.

Excerpt:

“Let me clean up my stuff. We can take my truck.” He stood up with a grimace.
“What?” I looked at him as if he was crazy.
“You need help.” He shrugged. “I’ll help.”
“No, it’s okay. I’ll be fine.” I shook my head a little too hard and my pony tail whipped me in the eye. I grimaced and blinked back tears. “Ow!”
“Here—“ Jake pressed something to my eye. “It’s no big deal. This is what friends do, right?”
“You’re still on probation—“ I snapped and batted away his hand. That’s when I realized he had lifted his shirt to wipe away my tears, exposing a wide expanse of well-muscled abdomen.
“Then I still need to work it off.” He smiled at me and my frown deepened.
I had to stop doing stupid things around Jake Simmon. In fact I just needed to not be around Jake Simmon. Looking at him made my brain leak out my ears. Talking to him left me equally amused and tongue-tied. I couldn’t think straight around the man and he was busy chasing tail all over D.C. Yes, the last thing I needed was to spend more time with Jake while he tried to be my friend. It just muddied the waters.
“No, no, no. I’m fine.” I waved my hands to emphasize my point as if all the no’s hadn’t made it clear.
He reached toward my face again with his shirt. “Stop swatting at me or you’re going to get more dirt in your eyes. Be still, Madeline.”
I froze when he used my whole name. It was rare for anyone to use my full name and when he did, something odd happened in my stomach. He dabbed at my face while I tried to ignore the way my blood pressure rocketed with his proximity.

Book Review: Miracle on 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love, #3) by Sarah Morgan

(Click image to take you to Goodreads)

Format: Kindle
Publishers: HQN Books
Published: 29th November 2016
Pages: 384
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance,
Main Characters: Eva, Lucas
Date Read: 8th August - 15th August 2016

Rating Given:

Synopsis:
It will take a Christmas miracle for two very different souls to find each other in this perfectly festive fairy tale of New York!
Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. She might be spending the holidays alone this year, but when she's given an opportunity to house-sit a spectacular penthouse on Fifth Avenue, she leaps at the chance. What better place to celebrate than in snow-kissed Manhattan? What she didn't expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous—and mysterious—owner.
Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife's death looming, he's isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. He wants no interruptions, no decorations and he certainly doesn't appreciate being distracted by his beautiful, bubbly new housekeeper. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings…This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?

I received a review copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not the biggest fan of the covers for this particular series but I do think they have slightly improved as they went along and if I had to pick one that I liked the most this one would be the one I would choose. I like the Christmasy feel to the book which is in keeping with the book.

From the moment I started this series I was the most excited about reading Eva's book and I'm so glad it lived up to my expectations. I loved every minute of this book from the very beginning to the last word there was just nothing that I didn't enjoy about this book. What I really loved about this book was the connection between the two main characters as even when they where just friends they were good together. Yes, there was moments when Lucas didn't want to acknowledge any kind of feelings he had for Eva but I could still tell there was something there. It wasn't just about love it was also about loss and how people deal with their loss which was a sad part of the story but how everything was written I didn't mind the sadness as it was balanced out with the light heartedness. I loved the ending to this story and the three friends and I hope that there will be a spin off from this series as I'm not ready to say goodbye.

I loved every character with only one new character I knew I already loved these characters but I wasn't sure I was going to love Lucas as much as the others but thankfully I did. He did have his moments but that was understandable with what had happened with him in the past so it was easy to forgive him especially when we see how he treats Eva (well most of the time). Eva has always been my favourite character in this series as she comes across as such a sweet person that would do anything for anyone and I felt so sorry for her with the loss of someone close to her as well as her just wanting to be loved. It was nice to have a bit of a catch up with the previous main characters I just wish they where in it a bit more than what they where.

Overall, I adored this book and it is hands down my favourite of the series.
