Goodreads:
Tempest Maguire wants nothing more than to surf the killer waves near her California home; continue her steady relationship with her boyfriend, Mark; and take care of her brothers and surfer dad. But Tempest is half mermaid, and as her seventeenth birthday approaches, she will have to decide whether to remain on land or give herself to the ocean like her mother. The pull of the water becomes as insistent as her attraction to Kai, a gorgeous surfer whose uncanny abilities hint at an otherworldly identity as well. And when Tempest does finally give in to the water's temptation and enters a fantastical underwater world, she finds that a larger destiny awaits her-and that the entire ocean's future hangs in the balance.

I haven't read many books that are about mermaids but the one I did read recently was Forgive my Fins and I loved it so I wanted to try more books about mermaids which is how I found out about this book.

The concept of this book was what interested me in this particular book but I found that that was the main thing that did interest me about this book.

I found it slow in places but the parts that something was actually going on was really good which, there was quite a few moments which was why it got the 3 stars as otherwise it would have only gotten 2.

I found Tempest an annoying character who was very selfish I just could not warm to her character and therefor didn't really care what happened to her. There was flashes of a good character especially her relationship between her and her Father and Brothers as you could really tell the love with each of them and I wish there was more of this shown in the book. Although she wasn't always thinking of her family just how she was suffering as if they do not feel what she does.

I did like Kai's character he was sweet to Tempest (although she didn't always treat him the same way but that could have been because of Marc). I would liked to have seen more growth between Tempest and Kai's relationship as it just came on suddenly for him but I did like her growth of feelings towards him and I am looking forward to reading more about these two as a couple in the next book.

Although I didn't absolutely love this book I will read the next book to see if it gets better with this book being the set-up.

Teaser Tuesday #4

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

My teaser:

Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs

"The short yet rocky journey between my life and complete and utter insanity had just been fast-tracked. Sometime between checking myself over in the mirror before leaving the house and right now, I had grown gills." - Page 44

I am a lot further in the book than this teaser but when I had read this part I just knew I would have to use it for my teaser as I think it's a great set-up for the story.
I do like this book but it isn't as good as I thought it would be. It seems to get better the further into the book I get.

                                          Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs
I have nearly finished this now and would have probably have finished it today but I have some Christmas shopping to do so will most likely finish it tomorrow. I am not enjoying it as much as I thought I would but it is a good book.

Hushed by Kelley York
Again I though I was going to like this more than what I have done but again it is good. I do find it very addictive though and I keep wanting to read just the next chapter, so maybe I like it more than what I think I do.

Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvery
I got this book last week and I really can't wait to start it!

Fracture by Megan Miranda
I am going to try and read this one after Stolen Away as again I am really looking forward to reading it and I know that if I wait until next week I won't want to read it as I will have Christmas presents that I will want to read, I really want to read it before it is supposed to come out.

Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barns
This is what I will be reading once I have finished Hushed as I like to try and read one actual book and one ebook. This book does sound good and has had a few good reviews so I am looking forward to giving it a try.
