Synopsis:
Single mother Sabrina Gervais has built a happy life with her daughter Charlotte in their eastern Long Island hometown of Holly Point. Having Charlie meant putting some of her own dreams on hold, but Sabrina is content to surround herself with family and friends, safe from the realities of the outside world. She had enough of that when the man she loved broke her heart.
Jake Killen’s career in professional hockey has brought him many rewards on and off the ice, but returning to New York brings back a flood of memories. When he sees Sabrina again, he discovers that he didn’t just away from her ten years ago, but also from their unborn child. Struggling with anger, guilt, and chemistry that’s off the chart, Sabrina and Jake wonder if they can find love again and, this Christmas, make all their wishes come true.
Christmas in New York Book 1: This Christmas by Jeannie Moon Book 2: All I Want for Christmas by Jennifer Gracen Book 3: A Light in the Window by Jolyse Barnett Book 4: Goodness and Light by Patty Blount

I have started a new Christmas tradition and that is to read Christmas books and thanks to netgelley I was able to get a few in exchange for an honest review.

I'm in two minds about this cover as it does give off the cheesy Christmas vibe which I am used to with Christmas books however I don't like the top part of the cover as it makes out that it's about sex when in reality it's not at all.

This was a cute and heart warming which is what I come to expect from Christmas books, I also like that even though it was a short read it still didn't compromise on the quality of the story. The short prologue at the beginning set up the story nicely and then throughout the book. I did enjoy the romance side of the story but there was times when I didn't quite believe what was being said or not being said at times. By the end of the book I wanted a little more maybe some time in the future would have been nice just to see how everything was going between the couple.

All of the characters where likable and seeing how this book has been done I don't think we will see the last of the girls. Sabrina was a nice character but she did have her moments when she had a bit of fire in her belly. I did like Jake and the more we got to know him the more you can tell he is a good guy and I felt for him at times. Charlie was a great character whom was wiser than her years.

Overall a nice Christmas read for all of you that love a cute Christmas novelette.

Book Review: Maybe This Christmas (O'Neil Brothers, #3) by Sarah Morgan

Synopsis:
"Uplifting, sexy and warm, Sarah Morgan's O'Neil Brothers series is perfection."—Jill Shalvis, New York Times bestselling author
This winter, ex-skiing champion, reformed heartbreaker and single dad Tyler O'Neil has only one mission—making sure his daughter, Jess, has the best Christmas ever. The fact that his best friend, Brenna, is also temporarily moving into his chalet at the overbooked Snow Crystal resort is a delicious distraction he's simply going to have to ignore. Theirs is the one relationship he's never ruined, and he's not about to start now.
Ski pro Brenna Daniels knows all about the perils of unrequited love—she's been in love with Tyler for years. But living with him is absolute torture…how can she concentrate on being his friend when he's sleeping in the room next door? Then when Tyler kisses Brenna, suddenly the relationship she's always dreamed of feels so close she could almost touch it. Could this be the Christmas her dreams of a happy-ever-after finally come true?

Last year I started my very first Sarah Morgan novel which was the first one in the O'Neil Brothers series which I loved so much I just had to continue with the series and I am so glad I did as this book was maybe even better than the first two...

A cute cover that is very much in keeping with the season it was set in.

I was always looking forward to Tyler's book as every time he was in the previous books I wanted more of him and he didn't disappoint. This book was amazingly written that I didn't want to put it down as I felt so involved with the story. I have come to realise that Christmas books are heart warming and this one was no different although there was a few moments when my heart broke a little bit but not enough to put me off. The relationship between Tyler and Brenna was great as well of them being great friends there was also the spark that neither of them saw it for what it was. As well as this book being about relationships it also tackled other issues including bullying which was done in a sensitive manner. The ending was beautifully put together that had me in tears of happiness it was just so cute.

The characters made this book special and I am going to miss them now that it's over. Brenna was a great female character as she came across this strong and independent person when really underneath it all she has so many insecurities she didn't realise what a great person she was. Tyler was amazing just as I knew he would be. He was really funny but like Brenna he did have a lot to deal with. My favourite character would actually have to be the child Jess as she was even funnier than her dad but more than that she was also wise beyond her years. It was great to see the characters from the previous books to see how their relationships are holding up.

Overall a cute and heart warming Christmas read.

Best Book Covers of 2014 (MUST be a book released in 2014. Would be best if it’s a book you’ve READ in 2014, but it’s not required)

10.
Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout - What really draws me into this book is the colours with that hint of red it just stands out.

9.
Fire of Stars and Dragons by Melissa A. Petreshock - The fire in the background looks stunning and it was that, that wanted me to read this book.

8.
Come Back To Me by Mila Gray - There's just something about this book cover that draws me in. I love that this could be a part of a scene in the book which is something that I like to see in book covers.

7.
Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick - Becca Patrick does it again as every book cover that she has had I have loved and this one is no different.

6.
Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout - This cover is the America version and I just wish that us in the UK had this one as it's stunning and ours is a bit too plain for my liking.

5.
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski - For me this cover was what made me want to read this book I just wish the story lived up to the cover.

4.
Apolonia by Jamie McGuire - There may not be much in this cover but with the patterns and colours it makes it stand out.

3.
Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven - This cover is so cute. The colours are bold which did draw me in but what drew me in even more was the heart which looks shattered it looks so effective.

2.
Happenstance by Jamie McGuire - Another cover of McGuire that I love, I could've even had more as her covers always seem to stand out from the crowd.

1.
The One by Kiera Cass - The whole Selection series has stunning covers and for me this one just outshines them all as well as any other covers of 2014.

Book Review: Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

(Click image to take you to Goodreads)

Format: Hardback
Publishers: Entangled Teen
Published: 5th August 2014
Pages: 534
Genre: YA, Paranormal Romance,
Main Characters: Kat, Daemon,
Date Read: 7th December - 18th December 2014

Synopsis:
Don't miss Opposition, the fifth and final book in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s bestselling Lux series. Also included only in the print edition is Shadows, the prequel novella never before seen in print! "A thrilling ride from start to finish," says RT Book Reviews.
Opposition
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can’t believe Daemon stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
Shadows
The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. To him, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous.
Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated.
Dawson can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or stop a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

I received this for my birthday which I am so please about as I have loved this series and this one is no different...

I must admit I'm not a huge fan of this change of cover as I prefer the older version but now that I have a physical copy of the book I like it a bit more the more that I look at it.

I am so sad that I have now finished this series but it sure did go out on a bang. I loved every minute of this book as there was always something going on that I was never bored. There was a lot of emotional bits that had me either laughing out loud or crying, my heart was in my mouth in one scene that I almost thought I can't finish this book but I'm glad I did. The connection between Katy and Daemon always has me swooning they are great together with great chemistry, I will sure miss their relationship well until I re-read the series. I adored the ending as I felt it was a fitting ending for this series.

Katy will always be one of my favourite female characters as through out this series she has grown into this strong and independent person who will stop at nothing for the ones she loves. Daemon is another character that will always be one of my favourites as he has come on in leaps and bounds. He still has his annoying traits but I still love him for them as they are what make Daemon Daemon. I love that we got to see a bit more of Archer and Luc as they are always adding humour to the books that they have appeared in plus I love the banter between Archer and Daemon. We also got to see a little more of characters from the spin off book Obsession.

Overall an amazing end to a fantastic series!

Best Books I’ve Read in 2014 (Doesn’t have to be released in 2014, just a book you’ve read in 2014)

10.
After Math by Denise Grover Swank - This was a brilliant freebie book and I can't wait to read more from this author as well as this series.

9.
Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles - This was one of my early reads of the year and I still remember the feelings I got whilst reading it.

8.
Poison Princess by Kresley Cole - A completely new kind of paranormal/dystopia novel for me and I loved every minute of it.

7.
Switched by Cassie Mae - This book was so funny and different to most of the other new adult books that I have read.

6.
Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout - A great end to the Lux series I'm just sad that it has come to an end.

5.
Losing It by Cora Carmack - Another early 2014 read but one that has left a lasting impression, I already want to read it again!

4.
Maybe This Christmas by Sarah Morgan - I loved this book so much that when I had read this book I had already made this list but I had to change it. It was such a sweet book that is perfect for this time of year.

3.
Made For You by Melissa Marr - I loved this book even more than her Wicked Lovely series which I never thought could happen.

2.
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire - I adored this book and I should also say that Walking Disaster and Beautiful Oblivion are just as good so I just used the first one as I just couldn't pick one favourite over the other.

1.
Come Back To Me by Mila Gray/Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase - I couldn't pick out of these two books so I had to cheat and go for a joint favourite. They where both amazing so much so I just had to re-read them and I already want to re-read them all over again and I'm sure I will at some point next year.

Waiting on Wednesday - Beautiful Redemption by Jamie McGuire

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here's this week's book I can't wait for...

Beautiful Redemption (Beautiful, #4/The Maddox Brothers, #2) by Jamie McGuire
Expected Publication: 27th January 2015

Synopsis:
No-nonsense Liis Lindy is an agent of the FBI. Deciding she is married only to her job, she breaks off her engagement and transfers from Chicago to the field office in San Diego. She loves her desk. She is committed to her laptop. She dreams of promotions and shaking hands with the director after cracking an impossible case.
Special Agent in Charge Thomas Maddox is arrogant, unforgiving, and ruthless. He is tasked with putting away some of the world’s toughest criminals, and he is one of the best the Bureau has to offer. Though, as many lives as he’s saved, there is one that is beyond his reach. Younger brother Travis is faced with prison time for his involvement in a basement fire that killed dozens of college students, and the media want a conviction. Travis’s only savior is his unusual tie to the mob. In a deal that will spare his brother, Thomas has agreed to recruit Travis into the FBI.
Liis is stubborn, defiant, and yet somehow softens Thomas’s rough edges, making her the perfect agent to accompany him to the ceremony. Posing as a couple, they must travel to Travis & Abby’s beach vow renewal and give him the news, but when the pretending ends, she finds herself wondering if they were pretending at all.
In the second installment of the Maddox Brothers books, experience firsthand the mysterious world of the elusive Thomas Maddox, and how good love can be when you’re not the first, but the last.

I am so excited about this book and if its half as good as the rest of this series it will be amazing. I can't wait to get a better acquainted with Thomas!

What are you waiting on?
