**This book contains adult subject matter. Not intended for young readers.**

When I saw this on Netgalley I thought it sounded like something that I would enjoy but boy was I wrong...

I kind of like the cover for this book as they do remind me of the two main characters and I love the way that its been cropped into them so that they are the only focus in the cover.

This was one of the hardest reviews that I have had to write to date because apart from a few moments that where interesting in a good way the rest of the book I just didn't get on with. It started off quite good and I found myself wanting to find out more especially the 'love story' but it just didn't happen. I love my contemporary romance books with actual romance in it but I just didn't like Carrington and Joshua together as there was no real spark and definitely no love between them. As well as no romance that I was wanting it was also a dark and depressing story which is all I can say as I don't want to give anything away. What also annoyed me about this book was that there was so many punctuation mistakes and missing letters at the end of a word made it all the more confusing and I know that this is a earc but I still wasn't expecting so many mistakes and the biggest mistake of all was she called another character by a completely different name! I didn't like the ending as I felt Carrington was far too forgiving and no real happy ending apart from one bit which I was so happy about.

With the characters I had a love hate relationship with them all apart from one. Carrington started of being a strong character that I liked but then by halfway through she started to annoy me with the way she acted. It wasn't until closer to the end that I found her remotely likable. Joshua I wasn't sure I was going to like from the get go as he was a druggie which I just can't wrap my head around why anyone would think its a good idea to get off their face with drugs and alchol, but I thought maybe he would grow throughout the book. There was times when I kind of liked him and I did feel sorry for him with the way in which he had to grow up but in the end I couldn't help but hate him. The one character that I loved was Jackson as he was so sweet and always there for Joshua but he just wasn't in it enough for me. There was another character right at the end that you can't help but love but that's all I will say about that.

Overall I gave it a higher rating than I would have thought but I have given it the benefit of doubt and hope that the final version has cleared up all those mistakes. I would read the next one just to see what would happen next.

Synopsis:
The summer of her dreams is about to get a reality check.
They said it couldn't be done, but geeky sophomore Lauren Carlson transformed herself into a popular girl after moving to a new school halfway across the country. Amazing what losing her braces and going out for cheerleading will do. Only trouble is, the popular crowd is wearing on Lauren's nerves and she can't wait to return to summer camp where she's valued for her brain instead of her handsprings. She misses her old friends and most of all, her long time camp-only boyfriend, Seth. This year she intends to upgrade their relationship to year-round status once she's broken up with her new, jock boyfriend, Matt. He doesn't even begin to know the real her, a girl fascinated by the night sky who dreams of discovering new planets and galaxies.
But Matt isn't giving her up without a fight. As he makes his case to stay together, Lauren begins to realize his feelings run deeper than she ever would have guessed. What if the guy she thought she was meant to be with forever isn't really The One? Returning to Camp Juniper Point was supposed to ground her uprooted life, but she's more adrift than ever. Everything feels different and soon Lauren's friends are turning on her and both guys question what she really wants. As summer tensions escalate, Lauren wonders if she's changed more than she thought. Will her first big discovery be herself?

I have wanted this book for awhile now, so when I spotted it on Netgalley I jumped at the chance to request it and I'm glad I did as it was an enjoyable read but just not the best read...

I don't think that the cover is amazing but I do like the composition and the lines down the sides which makes it stand out a little more than it would have done without it. I do like that the title is just as simple as the rest of the cover as it ties in with the rest of the cover.

When I first started Camp Boyfriend I thought it was going to be a five star book, however the more I read the more things started to annoy me. I do usually have a love/hate relationship with the love triangles in the books I read but with this one I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. I did like that I never knew who she was going to choose which I liked that it kept me guessing but for the most part I didn't feel like either of the boys was worthy of her attention. For the most part it was heavily based on the romance side however, there was a lot about friendship and family which I for the most part enjoyed. I really enjoyed the book closer to the end and found myself not wanting to put it down which was what it was like at the beginning which I also loved it was just the inbetween that I wasn't a fan of.

For the most part I wasn't sure what I felt about Lauren as she had a lot of selfish ways but then at the same time she was also selfless. I did feel really sorry for her at times and I just wanted to tell her their not worth it. At first I didn't think that the boys she 'liked' didn't really know the 'real' Lauren but the more we got to see of Matt the more I realised that he loved no matter what. Both the boys had there moments when I loved them but they also had moments when I didn't as Seth didn't believe her and Matt was a jerk a few times. I really couldn't stand Lauren's old friends as they were all selfish and never seemed to be there for Lauren when she needed them the most but some of them did have moments of sweetness.

Overall I did enjoy Camp Boyfriend for the most parts but a lot of the characters annoyed me which I think is the main reason why I didn't enjoy it all the way through.

Book Review: Pregame by Taylor Wade

Format: Kindle (arc)
Publishers: Indie
Published: 9th July 2013

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Main Characters: Brookelyn, Wes
Date Read: 24th March - 28th March 2014

Blurb:
Brookelyn Lane transfers universities to escape her dangerous past and the demons that haunt her. Starting her sophomore year at a new school, Brookelyn promises herself that she won’t let history repeat itself. That means: no boys.
When arrogant and athletic Gabriel Harris enters Brookelyn’s world, closely followed by the mysterious, tattooed charmer, Wes Walker, she struggles to keep both of them from capturing her heart. She soon learns, however, that it’s easier said than done. Brookelyn finds herself falling hard and fast. Just as she starts to figure everything out, Brookelyn’s past finds its way to her present, and her world is turned upside down as she’s forced to face off against her worst nightmare.

I saw that this book was up for review on a Goodreads page that I am in, I thought it sounded like something that I would enjoy so requested it and I am really glad I did...

With this cover I love the background as it really does make the book stand out, I also love the use of colours. What I am not too sure about is the position of the title which I feel like it should have been more centred than it was plus I think it should have been bigger as it looks a little lost with the close up of the lips and the font size of the author.

As soon as I started this book I found it very enjoyable and the more I read the more I fell in love with the whole story. There was a major issue addressed in this book which I don't normally like to read about but I found that Wade did a brilliant job in tackling the issues raised. Even though there was some really dark moments there was some much needed light relief that had me chuckling along with them. The romance side of the story was very well written and I could feel the sparks shooting of the pages even when Brookelynn held herself back (but no one could blame her for that after everything she went through). The only thing wrong with this book was the grammar and spelling as it was really bad in some places and it really distracted me but I didn't pull the rating down too much as at the end of the day it was independently published and the story was just too good to take the rating down even further.

I loved all the characters that we was supposed to like and hated the ones that we most definitely should. Brookelynn was a fantastic character who was a strong and courageous as well as funny even in her rough times. Wes was one of those 'bad guys' that really have a heart of gold. He was so sweet and there for Brookelynn when she wasn't sure he would be. Both their friends was great and really made the book so much better with all their banter and antics (watch out for the beach ball scene as it is hilarious).

Overall this a book that you should look out for especially if your a fan of Beautiful Disaster.

Blurb:
Fifteen-year-old Serena is the youngest member of a dying race. The increasing acidity of the ocean is destroying her home, slowly eating away at the once thriving underwater landscape. But since the night of Serena’s birth, it is an outside force that most threatens their dwindling population. Werewolves, who once served as protectors for mermaids in the Kingdom of the Undine, now seek to eliminate all who dwell in the ocean — and Serena is about to find herself right in the middle of the deadly conflict.
Given the title of Werewolf Liaison, Serena is determined to make things right for her people. When she ventures to The Dry, she meets Liam, the werewolf with hazel eyes, and her whole world gets turned upside down. As Serena discovers the real history between werewolves and mermaids, she is left wondering who her true enemies are.

I received this book from netgalley ages ago and I have only now decided to read it and now I do realise why it had taken me so long.

This is a very pretty cover, I especially love the use of colours. I love that it is also in keeping with the story and that I know what it's about.

It took me such a long time to get into this book as nothing much was happening and the things that did happen left me feeling bored. It wasn't until over half way through when I got into this book but even then it was a continuous love there was still times that left me feeling bored. I really do love the concept of this story and maybe if it was less confusing and more believable then maybe I would have loved it as much as what I thought I would. The paranormal side I loved as I have never read a book that involves just Mermaids and Werewolves it was great to see a different side to these paranormal creatures. The romance side of the story was very much lacking in that department as it just didn't seem real and very much rushed it was like it was a second thought. I kind of liked the ending as it did leave me wanting to know what was going to happen in the next two books but I still didn't feel the love.

I think one of the main reasons why I didn't get on with this book was that I never really warmed to any of the characters as they was all annoying and for the most part selfish. There was a few that I kind of liked but still no love which is very rare for me as I almost always fall in love with one of the male characters but not this time.

Overall there was parts that I kind of enjoyed but for the most part I just couldn't get into it which is such a shame. I don't know if I will read the rest of the series because I would feel like it's a chore to continue but I would like to find out what happens.

Blurb:
Ever since high school, Kayla has been crazy for gorgeous football player Talon. But before she could muster the courage to tell him, he became a hot item with her beautiful BFF, Reagan. The only person who knows Kayla’s secret is Wesley, Talon’s best bud—and he’s got it bad for Reagan. Now they’re all in college together, hanging out 24/7. For Kayla, seeing the two lovebirds together is absolutely unbearable. So Kayla and Wesley hatch a plot to drive them apart before Talon has a chance to give Reagan the Christmas gift she’s been waiting for.

Soon enough, the once happy couple is fighting. Reagan suddenly can’t get enough of Wesley’s goofy sense of humor, and Talon seems to be paying more attention to Kayla than a guy who’s “only a friend” ever should. But just when everything seems to be falling into place, Kayla and Wesley accidentally spend a night together and discover a hitch in their plan they never considered: that switching partners may not lead to a perfect ending after all.

I found this book on Netgalley and I thought it sounded like an interesting book so I requested it and I'm glad I did as I loved every minute of it.

The cover looks a little bit like the Losing It by Cora Carmack cover but a little more colourful. I do like this cover but that mainly has to do with the use of colours, I just don't feel like it's in keeping with the story, for starters the book is set over Christmas but this cover looks more like Spring.

After thinking the blurb sounded interesting last year to this year thinking I might not like it, I wasn't expecting a lot but I was addicted to it and I just wanted to read more and more and then when I was nearly finished I didn't want it to end. I found Switched to be such a sweet, light hearted and funny book which I just wasn't expecting. Even when I had (eventually stopped for some sleep) stopped I found myself thinking about what is going to happen next and how it's all going to get resolved but I didn't expect what did happen to happen. I loved seeing the growing attraction between Wesley and Kayla it was so sweet even if they didn't see it themselves which is where some of the humour came into the story. The ending was brilliant as it tied everything up in a bright and shiny bow!

I never expected to like any of the characters but I found them all endearing in their own unique way. Kayla was the main one that I expected to hate seeing as she was trying to get her best friend to split up with her boyfriend that she wanted but for some reason I couldn't hate her. Wesley was my favourite characters in this book as he was so funny but he was also kind (even if he wanted to split up his best friend so he could be with his girlfriend) and was always there for Kayla. I wish Wesley was in it more or even better if it had some of the story from his point of view as I would have loved to have seen how he was coping with everything going on plus it would be more Wesley time which I couldn't get enough of. Reagan I think was my least favourite character through out the book as she always wanted to embarrass everyone which is a quality I don't like. By the end I did warm to her as she seemed to be a true friend. Although Talon was in the book a lot I still don't feel like we got to know the real Talon but what did come across was he was a sweet guy.

Overall a new surprise favourite of mine as I enjoyed every minute of Switched.

Love. Romance. Sex. There’s a first time for everything...

As far as Bliss Edwards can tell, she’s the last virgin standing, certainly amongst her friends. And she’s determined to deal with the ‘problem’ as quickly and simply as possible.

But her plan for a no-strings one night stand turns out to be anything but simple. Especially when she arrives for her first class and recognises her hot new British professor.
She'd left him naked in her bed just 8 hours earlier...

I had seen this around everywhere when it first came out but I never got around to getting it until I saw it on Netgalley so I jumped at the chance to review and I'm glad I did as it was amazing!

I love that the cover is simple and I do prefer the male model in this one than the original as he looks more like Garrick than the original one did.

I had a feeling that I was going to enjoy this book and in a way I was wrong as I adored it and now I know why everyone raves about it. It was such a fun read but some points broke my heart a little bit. There was instant chemistry between Garrick and Bliss which I enjoyed but I also enjoyed the way in which it grew to more than that even if they couldn't be together I wanted them to. It was so easy to get carried away this book as it has everything you need in a good contemporary romance and I just didn't want to put it down but when I had I just kept thinking about what was going to happen next. The epilogue for Losing It was amazing I just loved how it came to an end it was perfect.

The characters in this book made it easy to love the book as they where fantastic. Bliss did a lot of over thinking but that made for some hilarious scenes. She really did seem more like a real person than most other characters I have ever read which was a great change. Garrick was amazing and I loved him from the moment we met him as he was funny but he had such a sweet side to him it was hard not to fall for him. There was also some other great side character that I also loved maybe not as much as Garrick. Cade was such a sweet character and I did feel sorry for him and I would love to see him have his own book just so I know that he's ok.

Overall I should have read this book sooner as it was amazing well worth the wait though!

Blurb:

After getting kicked out of boarding school, bad boy Derek Fitzpatrick has no choice but to live with his ditzy stepmother while his military dad is deployed. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out she plans to move them back to her childhood home in Illinois. Derek’s counting the days before he can be on his own, and the last thing he needs is to get involved with someone else’s family drama.

Ashtyn Parker knows one thing for certain--people you care about leave without a backward glance. A football scholarship would finally give her the chance to leave. So she pours everything into winning a state championship, until her boyfriend and star quarterback betrays them all by joining their rival team. Ashtyn needs a new game plan, but it requires trusting Derek—someone she barely knows, someone born to break the rules. Is she willing to put her heart on the line to try and win it all?

Every Simone Elkeles book I have read I have absolutely loved, so when I saw it on Netgalley I jumped at the chance to request it and it so lived up to my expectations!

I love the cover for this as it is in keeping with the story. I also love the use of colours with the dark edge to it and then the pop of colour it really stands out for me.

Another fantastic book from the talented Simone Elkeles I swear she can do no wrong in my eyes. I fell in love with the story and the characters from the moment I turned the first page. When I first started this book I was on a train and usually I can be easily distracted but not in this case as I was completely enthralled by it that I didn't know what was going on around me. I had read a review saying that they didn't like that they was instantly in love but I didn't feel like it was yes they had attraction for one another from the beginning but their feelings seemed like they grew as the story went. I loved the way in which she had the two main characters have some very serious issues it was great the way it felt more real than other books that I have read. With Wild Cards we got to hear from both Ashtyn and Derek which I am really starting to love alternating point of views as it feels like we get a better understanding of what the characters are thinking as well as making them more three dimensional. There was some laugh out loud moments that had me chuckling to myself on the train but there was also some very emotional and tender moments.

To begin with Ashtyn seemed like a strong person as she was in a sport full of guys but the more we read about her the more she showed she had some serious issues and very self conscious making her a more relatable character. Derek I loved from the start he was very funny but again he had some things that he needed to deal with and I really felt for him. There was some other characters that I loved and never expected to like Derek's Grandmother she was hilarious. I also loved some of the other football players excluding a certain character.

Overall I loved this book and I would highly recommend it to any Simone Elkeles fan or someone who just wants to read a brilliant book.

As the season winds down, Matt finds his growing feelings for Kelly have brought his numbed emotions back to life. But when betrayal shatters their fragile trust, winning it all seems more impossible than ever.

I received this from Netgalley for review a while ago now but I have finally gotten around to reading it and now I wish I had started this sooner as I loved it!

I'm not a huge fan of the cover as it reminds me of the cheesy covers that my Nanna used to have but I do think the model is gorgeous and a perfect fit for Matt.

This is a new kind of book for me as I haven't read any books that are Baseball related and other books that where sport related I didn't like but this sounded interesting so I thought I would give it a try. From the moment I started this book I just knew I was going to love it, it just drew me into the world of Baseball and the different relationships. I loved every minute of this book even though there was a few things that happened which broke my heart I just didn't care I was completely enthralled with this book. Even though I have no idea about baseball it didn't matter as I still understood and it was mainly about the behind the scenes of baseball. I never saw he romance coming as from the beginning they hated each other but the more time they spent together the more sparks there was. The chemistry between these two was hot and I could definitely feel it through the pages. There was also other storylines running through the book including some very serious issues which was beautifully written. The ending was great and I was swooning but there was a few of the other stories that I would have liked to got cleared up, however I have since learned that even though this isn't a part of a series some of the other characters have got their own book!

I loved near enough all the characters and the only one I didn't like was ok to hate after what she did I wouldn't be surprised if everyone hated her (not telling you which character this is)! Kelly was a great female character that did have some serious issues in her past but this has made her a much stronger and more relatable than any other character I know. Matt is another great character with some serious baggage but throughout the book in which he has to learn how to cope with his grief which had some very heart breaking moments yet there was times when he had me laughing which was great. There was some amazing side characters and I can't wait to find out what happened with them especially J.T I loved him and I can't wait for his book.

Overall it was an amazing book. This is only my second book by Alison Packard but both of these books was amazing and is one her way to being my favourite author!

The Blurb:

Holly MacDonald rushes to the town she left as a child to prevent her friend from marrying an unfaithful groom. Her old buddy, Luke Ivey, is the best man who intends to stop her interference.
She's no longer his tomboy pal, and he's no longer her nerdy sidekick. They fall for each other despite their different views on the wedding and their living four hours apart. She's a city girl and he's pure country.

Another Christmas read from Netgalley that I have read this December and it's another read that I very much enjoyed reading.

I'm not a huge fan of the cover as to me it's a bit cheesy looking which is saying something when I say that as I do love a bit of cheese for Christmas.

I loved this book from the moment it started as it was such a cute and fun read. I loved the build up of the romance and the chemistry between Holly and Luke was a scorcher! The Christmas part was cute but I didn't feel like that was the main focus of the story which I didn't mind. It was a short read which for the most part it didn't matter as we still got to the hidden depths of the story that I love in a full length novel. The only thing that let the book down was the ending which some of things got cleared up but there was one part of the story that never really got settled which was such a shame as otherwise it would have been another five star Christmas read.

I loved most of the characters but there was one that I wasn't a fan of but I don't think anybody would be as he was just a jerk. Luke was a great male character that I loved his relationship with not only Holly but his brother. Holly was another great character and was a very loyal friend which was lovely to see and again her relationship between Luke's brother was great. Micah is Luke's brother and for the most part I felt he stole the show a bit as he was such a funny character and I would love to see him get his own book.

Overall this was a quick, cute and a fun read I just wished that the ending would have been extended a bit more.

Sorry its taken awhile to get this review posted but I've finally got it done!

I was given this book but the author for review. It did take me a little while to get to it but I had to get it read when I signed up for the next book.

I really like the cover of this book as its different to what I'm used to seeing. Even though it doesn't have much, what it does have makes it stand out. I feel like it does tie in with the story as it seems very scientific.

When I first started this book I couldn't really get into it as I found it a little confuse it confusing but the further I got in the book the more I started to understand and then started to enjoy it. There was so many twists and turns which I don't want to give away so it is hard to write this review without giving anything away. I kind of enjoyed the romance side of the story but I would have liked a bit more but I think that might just be because at the minute I am loving romance novels. I enjoyed the ending as it left me wanting to find out more and it made me even more excited to read the next book in this series.

Alessa has been through a lot making her a little depressing character but then over halfway through we find out that she hasn't and isn't such a delicate flower which was nice to see. I didn't feel like we really got to know Isaac as well as what we could have done at the beginning but the more we read the more we find out. There was some other great characters that I wished we got to know more.

Overall, not a bad book but it only gets good after the halfway point so bare with it and you will be pleasantly surprised especially when the big twist is revealed!
