Blurb from Goodreads:

Novella written in Ian's POV.

Ian MacKinnon returns to Scotland after two years abroad and discovers the town of Braemar is no longer the safe haven he remembers. As strange events begin to unfold in the forest beyond the castle where he lives, Ian grows more concerned about those he cares about the most…and with good reason.

To be honest with you I didn't really know about this book until I saw it was free on Amazon so I thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did give it a try as I loved it.

I'm not a huge fan of the cover as it looks very creepy and I just can't picture the guy on the cover as Ian but i do love his eyes they are very piercing. I do think it ties in with the other covers which I am happy about.

As soon as I started this book I was hooked which is a good thing seeing as it's only 55 pages long and it has also made me want to read the next book. I loved that I had no idea what was happening and it wasn't until the end when things got explained which I don't usually like but in this case I loved the mystery. I liked the bit of romance but I would have liked a bit more as I didn't feel as though it was this huge romance which I am sure is going to happen in the first book but maybe not with the same person as the next book is set hundreds of years later. The brief glimpse that we had at the future has made me excited for the next book.

I loved the characters in this book especially Ian as he was a bit cocky but in a good way. I enjoyed his repertoire between him and his family especially his brother Duncan. Duncan was very much similar to Ian and I would have liked to have maybe seen more of him.

Overall a great start to what I hope is going to be a very entertaining book.
