Synopsis:
Scarlett Goodwin’s world is divided into Before and After.
Before she agreed to tutor Tucker Price, college junior Scarlett was introvert, struggling with her social anxiety and determined to not end up living in a trailer park like her mother and her younger sister. A mathematics major, she goes to her classes, to her job in the tutoring lab, and then hides in the apartment she shares with her friend, Caroline.
After junior Tucker Price, Southern University’s star soccer player enters the equation, her carefully plotted life is thrown off its axis. Tucker’s failing his required College Algebra class. With his eligibility is at risk, the university chancellor dangles an expensive piece of computer software for the math department if Scarlett agrees to privately tutor him. Tucker’s bad boy, womanizer reputation makes Scarlett wary of any contact, let alone spending several hours a week in close proximity.
But from her first encounter, she realizes Tucker isn’t the person everyone else sees. He carries a mountain of secrets which she suspects hold the reason to his self-destructive behavior. But the deeper she delves into the cause of his pain, the deeper she gets sucked into his chaos. Will Scarlett find the happiness she’s looking for, or will she be caught in Tucker’s aftermath?

“Maybe I'll hurt you," I whisper as my eyes search his. "I'm broken Tucker. I'm hopelessly broken inside, and I'm not sure there are enough pieces in me to put back together. But when I'm with you, I feel like maybe I can actually be whole.”

I had seen this book on Amazon for free and thought it sounded like it would be a good read, and boy was I wrong... it was a great read!...

I'm not a huge fan of the cover as it's a bit cheesy and similar to quite a lot of the new adult books. I'm not even sure that they are who I would picture as the two main characters. I do like the simplicity of the cover though.

This book drew me in from the very moment I started it which was a nice surprise as quite a lot of freebies aren't that good. I was completely addicted to this story and I just didn't want it to end especially with this series being different characters but I'm sure we will get to see a bit more from Scarlett and Tucker. I loved the interaction between Scarlett and Tucker as you could tell they had more than friendly feelings toward each other but they tried to keep there relationship strictly platonic but as these new adult books go it wasn't the case and I was glad of it because when they where together made me feel like they where meant to be and they made each other better and stronger people. There was a lot of funny moments that had me laughing out loud but there was also some tender and heartbreaking moments to give it a more real feel to it. This book wasn't just about these two characters together but the issues that they both had to deal with as they both came from broken families. I loved the ending as it was sweet but I wish it had gone a bit further into the future to see how things where holding up but apart from that I loved every second of this book.

I loved pretty much all of the characters with a couple of exceptions but they wasn't in it too much so I could cope with them. Scarlett was a different character than what I am used to read about because even though she came off as a strong and independent person she had her vulnerable side as she had a bad case of anxiety but it was nice to see how she overcame some of her issues. Tucker I wasn't sure I was going to like as he seemed to have a bit of a split personality but once we got to know the real Tucker I felt like there was an understanding to his mannerisms when not with Scarlett.

Overall I loved every minute of this book and I can't wait to read the rest of this series and Denise's other books!
