Top 10 Tuesday #2

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday everyone involved in the TTT will make a list of that weeks topic.

This week's topic is: Top Ten Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time
My top 10 are as follows:

  1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - With this series being the books that got me back into reading I would to be able to see if it would do the same now without it being a re-read.
  2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - I loved the first book so much and would love to have the same feeling that I had when I first read it but it just isn't the same as I know what happens now and the last book kind of ruined it for me.
  3. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare - I loved the first three of this series and when it ended I was gutted, however now that there is another series it makes me nervous on what is going to happen next. Having to re-read the first part of this series again would just not feel the same.
  4. Evermore by Alyson Noel - I loved this book but as the series went on I just kept getting more and more annoyed with the characters that now I wouldn't feel the same way about them if I re-read it.
  5. Need by Carrie Jones - I just wouldn't feel the same when reading this book as I did the first time around because of reading what happens in the second book.
  6. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr - By the end of this series what I wanted to happen never did so I was disappointed and now its ruined the first one which I absolutely loved.
  7. The Dark Devine - Once you have read this book it will never feel the same once you know what happens next.
  8. Forsaken by Jana Oliver - The second one ruined it for me but maybe when the series is finished I will feel differently but for now it just wouldn't feel the same.
  9. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen - This book was a good start to the series but by the end of the series I just didn't feel the same way.
  10. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling - Loved this series but Harry Potter is more about the unknown and now I know we just don't get that same magical feeling as what I did the first time around.

Another week and another two books I am looking forward to reading as I have been waiting for Sweetly to be released for ages. I am also looking forward to Cinder as it's my first ARC that I will be reading before the publication date!

Book Review: The Juliet Spell

The Juliet Spell by Douglas Rees

Format: Ebook
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Published: 27th September 2011
Pages: 267
Main Characters: Miranda, Edmund, Drew
Date Started: 1st October 2011
Date Finished: 10th October 2011
Rating Given: ****

NetGalley:
I’m Juliet.
At least, I wanted to be.
So I did something stupid to make it happen.
Well, stupid and wonderful.
I wanted the role of Juliet more than anything. I studied hard. I gave a great reading for it—even with Bobby checking me out the whole time. I deserved the part.
I didn’t get it. So I decided to level the playing field, though I actually might have leveled the whole play. You see, since there aren’t any Success in Getting to Be Juliet in Your High School Play spells, I thought I’d cast the next best—a Fame spell. Good idea, right?
Yeah. Instead of bringing me a little fame, it brought me someone a little famous. Shakespeare. Well, Edmund Shakespeare. William’s younger brother.
Good thing he’s sweet and enthusiastic about helping me with the play...and—ahem—maybe a little bit hot. But he’s from the past. Way past. Cars amaze him—cars! And cell phones? Ugh.
Still, there’s something about him that’s making my eyes go star-crossed....
Will Romeo steal her heart before time steals him away?
I didn't actually know about this book until I became a member of NetGalley in which you can request books to review. When I was looking through what I should pick I found this book and to be honest I fell in love with the front cover and knew I just had to request this book before I even read what it was about. When I did read what it was about it was decided that I was definitely was going to request this book. Once I was accepted I had to read it straight away.
To start with I was a bit confused with some of the language used but once I got used to it I just fell in love with the book. I haven't read a book like this before so I wasn't sure I was going to like it as much as I did but it was similar to a TV show that I had watched a few years ago called Lost in Austen which was about a woman going back in time, whereas this book is the opposite where someone from the past comes to the future. This book as you would tell is from the time of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Which one of the characters from the play comes to the future. I really enjoyed this aspect of the story it was just very enjoyable. It was great to see how someone from a different century would get on in the present day it made me laugh out loud as you could just imagine that would be how they would act around the future appliances.
With Miranda's character I found her very likable someone you can relate too. I really felt her emotions and when she was sad I was sad and when she was happy I was too. She was definitely one of my favourite characters in this book and I was routing for her all the way. Edmund I wasn't sure about at first but I think it was because I didn't like the way he was with Miranda but from the very first moment we get to meet him you just know there is something good about him and by the end of the book I fell in love with him. Then there was Drew you just knew from the beginning that he was in love with Miranda which made me feel so sorry for him he was so sweet but Miranda was oblivious to him.
What I didn't get was how anyone could believe that Edmund was someone from the past if I where in their shoes I wouldn't have believed them, but the characters was very believing, especially Miranda's Mum which I wouldn't believe that she would believe in it but just go along with it anyway so not to hurt anyone's feelings but no she believes.
I would love the book even more if there was just a bit more to the ending it was sweet but I did want more.
Great book definitely recommend it to anyone who has the chance to read it!

Book Review: Silence (Hush, Hush #3)

Silence (Hush, Hush #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick

Format: Hardback
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Published: 4th October 2011
Pages: 438
Main Characters: Nora and Patch
Date Started: 5th October 2011
Date Finished: 9th October 2011
Rating Given: ****

Goodreads:
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

This book I just had to have so much so I pre-ordered it so I could have it as soon as possible. I love this series and even more so the covers.
I must say when I first started this book I didn't think it was going to be as good as the others as it started off quite confusing. I think a part of the reason for being confusing was because I forgot what happened in the last book. It did get explained further along , but along the way a lot of people (who see loves and should be able to trust) lied which also confused me as you just never know who to believe.
A lot of things happen in this book that keeps it interesting and makes you want to read just the another chapter before you have to put it down.
There is something that happens towards the end that you just can't believe well actually a lot of things happen that make you thing that can't be happening.
In this book Patch is just like he is in the other books in which he is a bad boy you just have to love even if your not quite sure about his attentions but you just want to believe in him.
Nora is again the same as before and she makes some tough decision that show the strength of her character. You really do get drawn into her world and how she sees it all.
Apart from being confused I loved this book nearly as much as the others. Just one warning for people who haven't read this book make sure you either read or skim the last book so you keep on track with what is the lies and what is the truth.
I can't wait to read the next book as I just want to know what is going to happen next.

Comments

I just wanted to say a huge sorry as I must seem rude not commenting on some of your comment but for some reason I can't comment on my blog or even on other blogs which is really annoying as I do have things to say :(

On My Wishlist #2

On my wishlist is a weekly event hosted by Book Chick City which runs every Saturday.
This will be where I choose a book that I really really want but haven't been able to get it just yet.

This week on my wishlist is:
Divergent by Veronica Roth

Goodreads:
Beatrice "Tris" Prior has reached the fateful age of sixteen, the stage at which teenagers in Veronica Roth's dystopian Chicago must select which of five factions to join for life. Each faction represents a virtue: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. To the surprise of herself and her selfless Abnegation family, she chooses Dauntless, the path of courage. Her choice exposes her to the demanding, violent initiation rites of this group, but it also threatens to expose a personal secret that could place in mortal danger. Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent trilogy launches with a captivating adventure about love and loyalty playing out under most extreme circumstances.
Everywhere I look someone is either reading or has read this book and it seems to get rave reviews and the more I hear about it the more I want to get it. So I hope to read it in the near future!
