Follow Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This is a great way to discover new blogs and make new friends! This weeks featured are The Romanceaholic and The Talking Teacup.
Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?
The only time I actually look at reviews is if I can't decide what to read whether to buy them or from my TBR pile. Then I go for the one that has more good reviews and tend to stay clear of the bad reviewed books. If it's my TBR pile I always put off reading the ones that mainly get bad reviews but then sometimes I am pleasantly surprised and then other time's I agree.
The thing is about ANY book is not everyone likes them so every book out there will have a bad review as we readers all ave different opinions so we shouldn't be put off by a bad review!
First off, OMG I love your header!!
ReplyDeleteSecond, I definitely agree with you that bad reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt. I totally understand reading the ones that people rave about first though! My sister does the same thing. I, on the other hand, tend to like a really bad book every now and then, the same way I might wish to watch an incredibly cheesy movie after watching a bunch of blockbuster hits...
Thanks for stopping by! Following back (Blogger, Linky, and GR)

I agree reviews are a reflection of people's opinions and everyone has different views of books. One person's terrible book is another's masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday. Stop by if you get a chance.
Definitely agree. Sometimes everyone will be trashing something and I will end up actually liking it :) New Follower

True! There are some books in my TBR pile that I've read bad reviews about. But like I say when I have to write a "not so shining" review, I just say it wasn't for me. Although sometimes I think other people can be harsh with their negative reviews.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday Hops
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
I'm kind of similar to you, I tend to get put off if the book has bad reviews

Yeah I agree- everyone likes different things and bad reviews don't really mean much unless the book ONLY has bad reviews...which usually means all different types of readers disliked it!

ReplyDeleteVery good point about the bad reviews. I know there are some books out there that I loved that other people hated! You can't always go by the reviews!

I agree with you but I think I haven't buy a book only for that.
ReplyDeleteHere is mine
I totally agree with you. :D
ReplyDeleteBecause everyone had another opinion about a book. And if I like a book even 100 people don't. It don't say that I don't read this book. :D
